Time is running out for Tiger Woods and his Jupiter Links Golf Club as they seek their first match win of the season. Halfway through the second season of the Tomorrow’s Golf League, it’s been a lot of the same for both teams. The defending champion Atlanta Drive GC is tied for first having won its first two matches.
TGL Preview
It’s been nearly a month since Atlanta Drive GC beat The Bay GC 7-4 to improve to 2-0 this season. The team also ran its overall winning streak to 7 matches after winning all 3 playoff matches and its final two in the regular season. Atlanta has lost just once in its TGL history, a 6-5 setback to The Bay in the middle of last season.
Jupiter Links GC has been on the opposite end of the results line. Even with TGL co-founder and golf legend Tiger Woods on the squad, JLGC won just one match last season and has started Year 2 with consecutive losses. And a majority of the defeats haven’t been close. They dropped the season opener 8-3 to New York and fell to LAGC 8-4 in its most recent match on Jan. 20.
After going without a match win last season, Boston Common Golf moved into a first place tie with Atlanta by beating The Bay 9-1 in last week’s match. BC also currently holds the tie-break advantage with 15 holes won in 2 matches compared to Atlanta’s 11. Boston Common also remained the favorite on the TGL betting odds futures board.
- No surprise that Atlanta is listed as the favorite against winless Jupiter Links. Atlanta started the season with wins over New York GC and most recently The Bay, extending their overall winning streak to 7 matches in a row. Atlanta is listed at -170 on the TGL betting odds with JLGC at +150.
- Atlanta scored its biggest win of last season beating Jupiter Links 9-1 in the regular season finale. The match was actually close after Triples with Atlanta up 3-1. Both teams were dropping the Hammer and Atlanta used it to their advantage winning back-to-back holes. They got 3 points on the 14th hole when Lucas Glover drained a putt after each team used the Hammer.
- Both teams will have a key player sidelined. Tiger Woods couldn’t help Jupiter Links last season and he’s been unable to cheer his mates to victory yet this season. Woods said he would like to play as he continues rehabbing from back surgery. After this match Tiger’s team doesn’t play again until Mar. 1.
- A key contributor in last season’s championship run, Justin Thomas has yet to play this season for Atlanta and remains on the shelf recovering from his own back surgery.
Tomorrow’s Golf League Schedule and Betting Lines
- Several teams have already been forced to use alternates, some out of necessity like Jupiter Links and Atlanta with Woods and Thomas on the shelf. And with the PGA Tour season underway scheduling conflicts are an issue.
- Atlanta could be severely impacted in this match with Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel and Chris Gotterup all competing in the Farmers Insurance Open in Southern California. Atlanta fans better hope one or more of them miss the cut so they can make it to SoFi Center for Monday’s match. As it stands now Lucas Glover and alternate Corey Conners are the only available players.

Atlanta Drive Golf Club (-170) vs. Jupiter Links Golf Club (+150)
- Atlanta opened the season with two new players in Chris Gotterup and Corey Conners joining holdover Billy Horschel, but the winning continued in a 6-4 win over New York GC in a finals rematch. Both alternates played well with Horschel supplying the dagger.
- Horschel has been money for his TGL golf team by draining critical putts in stressful situations. He clinched last season’s championship as well as the season opener against New York with long putts. And although his most recent match-winning putt wasn’t as lengthy, it supplied Atlanta the points needed to win its 7th consecutive match.
- Atlanta outscored The Bay 4-2 in Singles to secure the 7-4 win last time out, giving the team a plus-25 point differential in the history of TGL Singles play. However, with all 3 players from the win over The Bay pegging it up at Torrey Pines, things could look much different this week.
- At this point I think Jupiter Links would just like to be competitive. The team was outscored 40-12 in its 5 matches last season and while the scores were closer they fell to NYGC 8-3 in the opener and 8-4 to LAGC in the most recent match.
- The match with LA was closer than the final score would indicate. With Max Homa and Kevin Kisner combining to win 3 Singles points, JLGC closed within one heading to the last 2 holes.
- Once again, alternate Akshay Bhatia played well for Jupiter Links. He did miss a 7-foot putt with the Hammer in play that would’ve tied the hole putting his team in an early 2-0 deficit. He hit a sparkling drive within 5-feet of the pin leading to a concession and JLGC’s first point.
- “Obviously losing sucks but when you pull something off it’s the best feeling in the world,” Bhatia said of his pin-seeking drive.
TGL Atlanta Drive GC vs. Jupiter Links GC Top Matchups
- The ideal matchup would be to have Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas go head-to-head in Singles. Unfortunately 2 of the best players in the sport are sidelined with injuries and though they might return before the season ends, there’s no guarantee. Both players will be in attendance cheering on and advising their respective team.
- It doesn’t seem to matter who puts the Atlanta Drive GC uniform on all they do is compete and win. Nick Dunlap was an alternate last season and won 3 Triples points over 9 holes. In 2 matches this season Chris Gotterup has won 9 total points and is tied for first in the TGL with 3 Singles points. Corey Conners has also contributed.
Best TGL Bet for Atlanta Drive GC vs. Jupiter Links GC
- There seems to be a black cloud hanging over Tiger’s squad. The team also needs to strategize better when it comes to using the Hammer. JLGC got hoodwinked in its last match, forced to accept and losing the hole in what turned out to be the deciding factor in yet another loss.
