ACC Tournament Odds, Preview & Betting Tips

No matter what happens at the ACC men’s basketball tournament, the Duke Blue Devils are dancing as a No. 1 seed. Behind the likely national player of the year Cameron Boozer, Duke took over as the top ranked team in the country and takes a glossy 29-2 overall record into the conference tournament.

Not every team competes in the conference tournament with the bottom 3 in the regular season standings omitted. That means Notre Dame, Boston College and Georgia Tech start their offseason early.

The top 4 teams in the regular season standings receive a double-bye into the quarterfinal round giving those clubs additional rest and a big advantage. And that’s why No. 1 Duke, No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 Miami and No. 4 North Carolina boast the shortest tournament champion odds on the college basketball spread.

ACC Tournament Preview

The ACC tournament will be held from March 10-14, 2026 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC with every game televised on the ACC Network and ESPN Networks. The championship game is set for Saturday, March 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

ACC Tournament Favorites

Duke Blue Devils (29-2, 17-1)

Duke is a heavy favorite and deservedly so. The Blue Devils lost just twice during the regular season by a total of 4 points and they boast the largest point differential in the country at plus-20.4. They can score the basketball but even on a bad night their defense can cover. Duke has the second-best scoring defense in the country.

Virginia Cavaliers (27-4, 15-3)

The good news is that if all goes according to play the Cavs won’t face Duke until the championship game. The bad news is they lost by 26 points to the Dookies just a few weeks ago.

Louisville Cardinals (22-9, 11-7)

They’ve been a little inconsistent but the Cards have a balanced roster that produced 22 wins and the most points per game in the ACC. The health of Mikel Brown Jr. will be a factor. He averages 18.2 points and 4.7 assists but missed the final 2 regular season games.

ACC Tournament Longshots

North Carolina Tar Heels (24-7, 12-6)

The Heels were the only conference team to beat Duke during the season, but they’ll have to navigate the remainder of their schedule without star Caleb Wilson. Wilson scored 23 points in the win over Duke, but without him the Heels fell 76-61.

SMU Mustangs (19-12, 8-10)

The Mustangs failed in their last 4 attempts to reach 20 wins putting them in a precarious position entering the tournament. They have several quality early season wins and hung with Duke on the road. Unfortunately the skid dropped them in the standings and SMU will have to play 5 straight days if it makes the championship.

Public Betting Odds Factors

  • Last year Duke ended a skid of regular season champion failures in the ACC tournament. Duke secured both titles and is a negative odds favorite to repeat thanks to their completed dominance.
  • Teams on the NCAA Tournament bubble have added incentive to play well and win their conference tournament thus securing the automatic bid. That should boost the chances of teams like Louisville, SMU and Clemson.
  • Injuries are always a factor and UNC was dealt a blow with the loss of Caleb Wilson. On the flip side Louisville should have Mikel Brown Jr. back giving their chances a boost.

ACC Tournament Predictions

  • It’s hard to imagine any team beating Duke the way the Blue Devils have played their year. Cameron Boozer leads the ACC in rebounding and is second in scoring, but Duke is more than just Boozer. Isaiah Evans chips in 14.5 points and a relentless defense allows just 62.5 points per game.
  • It’s going to be a chore for any of the 6 teams playing in the first round to emerge as tournament champion. The bracket has them playing a fifth game in 5 nights if they reach the title game. And the competition gets tougher along the way.
  • Louisville, Virginia and Miami are right behind Duke on the title odds board and they have a path to the championship game that doesn’t involve Duke. And once in the title game anything can happen.

ACC Tournament Betting Tips

Duke has the most ACC tournament titles and has twice in the last 3 years. In fact, Duke is the only team with more than one championship in the last 10 years. They are a very deserving favorite against the NCAA basketball spread.
