World Cup 2026 Group Matches Today
Czechia and South Africa are looking up in the standings heading into their Group A match needing points. Positioned with South Korea as the second favorite to win the group, the Czechs let one slip away in their draw with Qatar and all the pressure will be on them in the first match of the day.
The Group B matches take place during the middle of the day with one country looking to break into the win column. Canada is the biggest World Cup betting odds favorite on the daily board in its match with Qatar, scheduled for 6 p.m. ET in Vancouver. Switzerland is still the favorite to win the group but must overcome a stunning outcome. Their match with Bosnia & Herzegovina is set for 3 p.m. ET.
The winner of the heavyweight clash between Mexico and South Korea is pretty much guaranteed a spot in the knockout round. Mexico soundly defeated South Africa 2-0 and will host this match at 9 p.m. ET.

Today’s World Cup Groups Odds
- On the three-way moneyline Canada is the biggest favorite of the day priced at -356 against Qatar. The other three matches on June 18 all have tighter, highly-contested odds following the opening round of games.
- After their opening match wins, Mexico hit the board as a slight -105 favorite against South Korea (+330). The winner has a clear path to winning the group and the automatic trip to the Round of 32.
- Czechia saw their World Cup betting odds to win the group balloon after losing to South Korea. They are a -125 favorite to beat South Africa (+360). Switzerland (-190) can take control of Group B as a heavy favorite to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina (+565).
- 3-way moneyline betting offers the “early payout” feature. This means if the team you backed leads by two or more goals at any point during regular time your bet or leg will be settled as a winner, regardless of the final result. All bets that have not triggered the early payout condition will be settled on the full time result.

Match 1 Prediction and Betting Preview
With losses in their first Group A match the contest between Czechia and South Africa is a must-win for both sides. The Czechs played a strong game but fell to South Korea 2-1 after conceding two late goals. They were the more physical team and their ability to capitalize on dead-ball situations allowed the Czechs to take advantage of South Africa’s weaknesses.
The 2-0 score made the outcome of South Africa’s opener against Mexico appear closer than it actually was. We knew going in offense would be a concern and the South Africans generated little in that department. Penetrating the Czech’s backline will be a chore so expect some changes to the counter attacking approach.
Match 2 Prediction and Betting Preview
Switzerland wasted a chance as a big favorite in its opening draw with Qatar. A victory appeared in order until a late stoppage time goal leveled the match. The Swiss have to put the memory of that failure behind them and rely on their superior talent. They had numerous chances but eventually paid for the inability to convert on them.
Bosnia is hoping veterans Edin Dzeko and Haris Tabakovic are fit to play in this match. They missed the opener severely impacting the offense. Injury fill-in Jovo Lukic scored the lone goal and the defensive lockdown almost worked until Canada leveled the match at 1-1 in the 78th minute.
Match 3 Prediction and Betting Preview
A big -350 moneyline favorite on the World Cup betting odds, I don’t think Canada will take the clear Group B underdog Qatar lightly after the opening matches, especially considering what’s at stake. The group is deadlocked with one point each making this a pivotal match for the hosts to get to the Round of 32. They dominated possession and had an edge in shots against B&H and could have Alphonso Davies back.
Qatar got a huge jolt of confidence with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their opener. The tying goal came late in the second-half stoppage and totally covered up the fact that Qatar was completely outplayed. Their plan worked, though. They sit back, take pressure and rely on occasional counters. I don’t think that strategy plays well against the pressing Canadians.
Match 4 Prediction and Betting Preview
A high-stakes showdown between Mexico and South Korea for control of Group A after both won their opener. Mexico will lean heavily on their home crowd again after a quick start against South Africa. The Mexicans were clinical in their takedown with an aggressive transition game. They do face a tougher test, though, and staying disciplined is a key.
Two second half markers propelled South Korea to a huge opening win over Czechia. They withstood early pressure then used high-speed counter attacks to secure the win in a battle between the predicted second-place teams. Structured counters and a solid back line that absorbs pressure but doesn’t wilt could be trouble for Mexico.
Best World Cup Betting Angles for Today
- The best betting angles for World Cup 2026 group stage matches on June 18 involve fading Canada’s huge moneyline price and instead looking at underdogs and goal totals.
- Canada is getting plenty of action against a lesser opponent at an inflated price also because of their status as host. And Qatar showed they aren’t a pushover with their draw against Switzerland.
- South Korea is a quality opponent, but the price for Mexico in their matchup is surprisingly cheap, making a play on the home team a worthwhile move.
- Prime is offering Same Game Parlays for soccer that gives bettors the option of combining multiple selections from one game into a single wager. The choices could include match results, totals, player props and more.
How Group Standings Affect Today’s Predictions
The pressure is certainly on Group B favorites Canada and Switzerland after unexpected draws in their opening match. Winning the group becomes more difficult if either side has another poor performance and outcome so expect them to come out firing. Losing their first games puts more pressure on Czechia and South Africa giving them both a sense of urgency in their match.
Daily World Cup Prediction Summary
Czechia is the better team and any hope of advancing to the knockout stage starts with a win against South Africa. A high-intensity match against a team that has trouble scoring makes backing the goal line a smart play.
Mexico can secure a trip to the Round of 32 with a win and Canada can get a leg up with a victory. We saw those teams feed off the energy of the home fans in the opening game and backing them is an easy play.
