In its next to last international friendly before the 2026 World Cup, the United State Men’s National Team will take on Senegal. With the roster set for the World Cup the United States will look to iron out the kinks from a disastrous March window that included a pair of losses.
Senegal is also looking to fine tune its approach as they are also headed to the World Cup in a group with tournament favorite France. The U.S. has vowed to play tough opponents ahead of co-hosting the World Cup and Senegal is consistently ranked as one of the top African nations.

Public Betting Odds Factors
- Team USA put the world on notice in 2025 with a strong run that included a trip to the CONCACAF Gold Cup final in July. The team closed out the year with impressive wins over Paraguay and Uruguay stretching its unbeaten streak to five matches.
- Spring matches raised more questions giving coach Mauricio Pochettino something to work on before the World Cup. The USMNT was routed by Belgium 5-2 in March exposing the team’s defensive difficulties.
- The March international window closed with the US losing again to a European squad. Portugal escaped the most recent friendly with a 2-0 clean sheet shutting down the Americans at the box forcing only long attempts.
- After using a number of different player combinations in the March friendlies you can expect a better look at what Team USA will bring to the World Cup on Sunday and against Germany in the final warm up before the World Cup.
- With no clear No. 1 in goal the Americans will likely have Matt Freese and Matt Turner split time. Turner had a rough outing against Belgium allowing all five goals before getting substituted. Freese is the expected starter in the World Cup and made several saves in the Portugal match.
- Exhibition matches are a good way for teams and players to round into form. The US needs Christian Pulisic to do that and get the monkey off his back. The team’s offensive leader hasn’t scored a goal in the last eight USMNT matches with the drought stretching to 20 matches overall.
- Senegal went unbeaten during World Cup qualifying and boasts Africa’s most complete team. Many consider Senegal a “serious” contender once the World Cup begins.
USMNT vs. Senegal Predictions
- Senegal is tagged a “serious contender” for the World Cup by being a powerhouse team with a tight defensive structure and dominant athletes all over the pitch. After a disappointing March window it would behoove the Americans to take their opponent seriously while still working on tactical situations and lineup decisions.
- There are things for coach Pape Thiaw to work on with his Senegal roster, though not as much as the Americans. Their roster depth could be a problem for Team USA, especially in the second half when substitutions take place more frequently. Defensively the club is stout, allowing just three goals in 10 World Cup qualifying matches.

- International friendlies right before the World Cup are difficult to handicap with coaches experimenting with the roster rather than worrying about the final score.
- The Americans have struggled in recent matches against high-profile clubs falling to 9th ranked Belgium and 5th ranked Portugal. Senegal is another difficult top tier opponent.
- Betting markets indicate a competitive match with nearly even soccer betting odds on the 3-way moneyline.
