Patrick Cantlay moved from 43rd to 19th after his solo second. Gary Woodland and Robert MacIntyre also joined the field displacing Kurt Kitayama, Rickie Fowler and Bud Cauley. The controversial “starting strokes” system has been abandoned with all 30 players starting at even-par.

Players at the top of the standings no longer get a head start so guys like Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have no room for error.

Since the FedExCup champion was first introduced in 2007 there has never been a repeat winner and only McIlroy and Tiger Woods have won more than once. Tommy Fleetwood is currently ninth in the standings and looking to rebound from last week’s T47. His first PGA Tour title came at East Lake last year when he topped the field by three-shots.
