TOUR Championship 2025 Odds, Picks & Betting Preview

GOLF

The FedExCup title is up for grabs this week when the top 30 players in the season-long points race assemble at East Lake Golf Club for the season ending TOUR Championship. There is a major change to the format this year with the staggered start leaderboard no longer in effect meaning all 30 players have a shot at claiming the prize.

The field will have to contend with the best player in the world, though, and ousting defending champion Scottie Scheffler is no easy chore. Scheffler won last week’s BMW Championship for his fifth title of the year becoming the first player since Tiger Woods nearly a decade ago to win five times in consecutive seasons. Despite the format change Scheffler is a massive outright favorite on the PGA betting odds with Rory McIlroy the only other player with shorter than 10/1 odds.

TOUR Championship Overview

Host of the TOUR Championship every year since 2005, East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta is again the backdrop for the regular season finale. The field of 30 golfers will navigate the 7,490-yard, par-70 layout from August 21 to August 24. Unlike the past six years when the No. 1 golfer in the standings was given a head start over the rest of the field, everyone starts at even-par. That hasn’t changed the outlook on Scheffler, who boasts the shortest odds seen for a Tour event in some time.

For the fourth straight year Scheffler enters this tournament as the top seed in the FedExCup standings, but last year was the first time he won the title, getting past Collin Morikawa with the help of his strokes advantage. McIlroy is second on the odds board and a strong contender for the title. He’s had all kinds of success at East Lake and has won the TOUR Championship a record three times.

Along with Scheffler and McIlroy, four other former FedExCup champions are scheduled to peg it up including Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Rose. The 2025 TOUR Championship will be televised on NBC, Golf Channel and ESPN+. Check out all of the golf betting options in this golf betting guide.

TOUR Championship Top Contenders

Scottie Scheffler +182

While it’s more likely someone further down the odds board wins without the staggered leaderboard start, the actual chances of that happening with so much on the line are faint. And backing the best player in the world coming off another win in a field of 30 players is a smart move. The odds are not favorable, but that’s what Scheffler has done by winning two of his last three starts and five of the last 10 tournaments he’s played.

Rory McIlroy +878

If McIlroy played his cards right he will be in position to add to his record three TOUR Championship titles. He skipped the first leg of the playoffs and returned for the BMW Championship with a T12 getting greased up for a run at one of his favorite venues. It’s hard to say anyone has had as much success at East Lake as McIlroy, who has three wins and four additional top 10s in his last eight starts on this course.

Collin Morikawa +2060

Give credit to Morikawa for making it this far despite not winning a tournament this season. It’s been a battle but his persistence can pay off in a big way as he starts even with the favorites as No. 21 in the standings. Last year Morikawa had the lowest aggregate score at East Lake, but succumbed due to the strokes advantage Scheffler was given. It’s not a stretch going down the odds board since the field starts on level ground, and Morikawa’s resiliency and past success on the host layout should work to his advantage.

Sam Burns +2855

Breaking out of a mini slump at the right time, Burns showed off his putting skills last week at the BMW Championship to earn a share of fourth. He had finished outside the top 25 in four straight starts after a run of seven top 20s in eight starts. Burns has scored below 70 in 11 of his last 14 rounds at East Lake and boasts a 67.8 scoring average in his last 10 rounds on this course.

It’s easy to back the favorites in this one since Scheffler and McIlroy are easily the best players in the limited field. However, eliminating strokes at the outset gives everyone hope and the feeling that they have a chance. With top 5s in the first two playoff events and three in his last five starts, Tommy Fleetwood can almost taste that first Tour victory, and it would be much sweeter getting it to win the FedExCup.
