Thunder Favored vs. Pacers in NBA Finals Game 7 Sunday

NBA

The Oklahoma City Thunder are listed as an 8.5-point favorite at Prime against the Indiana Pacers in Sunday’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals on ABC. The Pacers continue to surprise almost everyone, as very few people had them winning more than a game in this series and almost no one had them taking the Thunder to a seventh game. Indiana surprised oddsmakers and bettors again on Thursday night, as they routed the Thunder 108-91 as 5.5-point underdogs to even the best of seven-series 3-3. Somewhat surprisingly, as competitive as this series has been overall, the individual games haven’t been that great. The best game of the series was Game 1 that the Pacers won on a last second shot by a score of 111-110 at Oklahoma City. The Thunder were a 10-point favorite in that game and the total was listed at 230. Oddsmakers have had to adjust the odds throughout this series and Game 7 odds have OKC listed as an 8.5-point home favorite with a total of 215.5.

2025 NBA Finals Game 7 – Indiana Pacers at Oklahoma City Thunder

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Indiana Pacers will visit the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tipoff time is 8:00 p.m. ET with television coverage on ABC. In this head-to-head series, the teams have split the first six games of this series straight up and against the spread with four of the six games going under the total. Going back a little further, the teams have split their last 10 meetings straight up and against the spread with five games going over and five going under. In the games at Oklahoma City recently, the teams have split their last 10 both straight up and against the spread, but OKC did win Game 2 by a score of 123-107 and Game 5 by a score of 120-109. The Thunder covered the spread in both of those games and both games went over the total.

Game 7 Notes

Sunday’s Game 7 will be the first Game 7 of an NBA Finals since 2016. “We have one game for everything, for everything we’ve worked for, and so do they,” Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said to the media, “The better team Sunday will win.” Not only do oddsmakers favor the Thunder, history does as well, as 15 of the previous 19 Game 7’s have been won by the home team. The Thunder had a Game 7 earlier in the playoffs against Denver and routed the Nuggets by 32 points.

If you look at the numbers all-time for home teams in Game 7’s, the numbers favor OKC, as home teams are 112-38 in Game 7’s in the playoffs, excluding the 2020 playoffs that were played in Florida.  It should be noted, however, that visiting teams have won nine of the last 14 game 7’s played since the 2021 season.

“It’s exciting, man. It’s so, so, exciting,” Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton said to the media, “As a basketball fan, there’s nothing like a Game 7. There’s nothing like a Game 7 in the NBA Finals. Dreamed of being in this situation my whole life. So, to be here is really exciting. Really exciting for our group. What happened in the past doesn’t matter. What happened today doesn’t matter. It’s all about one game and approaching that the right way.”

Haliburton looked great even while playing with a strained right calf in Game 6. He has been getting treatment almost non-stop on his calf. “My family has been on me,” Haliburton said. “If they call me, they are like, ‘Are you doing treatment right now?’ … My family has been holding me accountable.”

Betting Trends

The Pacers are 19-13 ATS as road underdogs this season, while the Thunder are 36-15-2 ATS as home favorites. OKC is 18-2 SU this season after a loss which bodes well for them, but the last three teams to force a game 7 in the NBA Finals all won, the Lakers in 2010, Heat in 2013 and Cavaliers in 2016.

NBA Finals Prime Pick

When it comes to finding value, it is never a bad idea to go against the public and the public is on the Pacers plus the points and the game to go over the total. We’ll go against the public and take the Thunder minus the points and also play the game to go under the total.
