Thunder at Spurs Playoff Preview, Odds & Betting Tips

The defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder are one win away from a return trip to the NBA Finals after beating San Antonio in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final. OKC can close out the series with a win in Texas on Thursday.

For the first time this postseason the Spurs are facing elimination and need a win at home to force a Game 7. After posting the second-best home record in the NBA during the regular season, the Spurs are just 5-3 on their home surface in the playoffs but opened as a 3.5-point favorite on the early NBA Playoffs betting line to extend the series.

Thunder at Spurs Preview

Game 6 of the Western Conference Final between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs is scheduled to tipoff at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX. The game will be televised live on NBC and streamed on Peacock.

Public Betting Odds Factors

  • OKC has two-time reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but the collective effort from the club allowed them to win more than 80 percent of their games the last two regular seasons while claiming the first NBA title in team history last year.
  • The depth of the Thunder was on full display in Game 5 with a balanced attack breaking down the Spurs. After scoring just 19 points in the Game 4 loss, SGA went for 32 with 9 assists on Tuesday. But the play of Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso was a big reason for OKC’s 127-114 victory.
  • Hartenstein had 12 points and 15 rebounds while helping limit Victor Wembanyama to 4 of 15 shooting from the field. After being held scoreless in Game 4 Caruso bounced back with his typical spark scoring 22 points with 6 assists. As a team OKC shot 48 percent and was 14 of 32 from 3-point distance.
  • The injury concerns arose again for OKC star wing Jalen Williams, who exited early in Game 2 with a hamstring problem. With Williams and Ajay Mitchell both sidelined for Game 5, the Thunder turned to Jared McCain for his first career playoff start. McCain delivered, scoring 18 of his 20 points in the second half to help OKC pull away for the win.
  • The Spurs have trailed in a series three times this postseason following the Game 5 setback. The previous two times they won convincingly. After losing Game 1 to Minnesota the Spurs won 133-95. San Antonio evened this series with a 103-82 triumph in Game 4. Both wins came at home.
  • Wembanyama had his worst game of the series on Tuesday scoring 20 points on 4 of 15 shooting. He did make all 12 free throws to inflate his numbers, but the team needs a bigger effort from him to extend the series.

Thunder at Spurs Predictions

  • Entering Game 4 of the series Wembanyama said the Spurs would get a chance to “see what we’re made of.” The team responded with a huge 103-82 victory holding OKC to 33 percent shooting and SGA to 19 points. A similar effort is needed on Thursday with San Antonio facing elimination.
  • Jalen Williams played a major role in OKC’s run to the Larry O’Brien Trophy last year, but injuries limited him to 33 games this season. OKC’s depth stood out with Jalen’s backup Ajay Mitchell also on the shelf. Getting his first playoff start Jared McCain delivered 20 points.

Thunder at Spurs Betting Tips

  • In all games this season San Antonio has the second best home cover rate in the NBA at 57.7 percent.
  • Playoff experience is paying off for OKC. After losing four of five games with only one payout during the season, the Thunder have cashed out in three of the last four games against the Spurs.
  • The teams have been efficient offensively going OVER the total in four of five games. The Spurs have cashed the over in 9 of their last 10 games overall.

Thunder at Spurs Head to Head and Key Stats

  • McCain scored more than 20 points in a game twice during the season. He tallied 24 in Game 3 and had 20 in Game 5.
  • OKC closed out the first two series on the road going OVER the total. However they failed to cover the NBA point spread and have only one payout in four games in San Antonio this season.
