Tomorrow’s Golf League is back in action with a flurry of activity after taking a week off from competition. A pair of doubleheaders will shape the playoff picture, which is currently tight with defending champ Atlanta Drive GC and Boston Common Golf tied at the top with 4 points each.
Atlanta has played one more match than Boston and will conclude its season with 2 matches as part of Monday’s doubleheader. Atlanta and Boston will square off with first place in the TGL standings on the line in the opener with Los Angeles GC the opponent in the nightcap.
TGL Week 8 Monday Preview
The TGL may have lost some momentum by taking last week off. It was well deserved for a number of players who are also competing on the PGA Tour. With only 5 matches on the season schedule everyone is critical. Entering the back half of the season every team has at least one win and Atlanta and Boston are only 2 points ahead of the pack.
Boston controls its own destiny in the race for the regular season championship. Led by the world’s No. 2 ranked golfer Rory McIlroy, the Ballfrogs have turned things around after not winning a match last season. They have a match in hand on Atlanta and can distance themselves with a win.
Beating Boston and LAGC on Monday puts Atlanta in the driver’s seat and also ends their season. A pair of victories would put all the pressure back on Boston and the rest of the league to play catch up. And the way things are going it could be tough for any team to pull away from the group.
- After not winning a match last season Boston has yet to lose, beating The Bay GC, 9-1, and LAGC, 7-5. They avenged losses from a season ago and look to do the same on Monday. Atlanta clinched a playoff spot with last season’s 6-3 win.
- Boston puts its unbeaten record on the line against the defending champs as a -125 TGL betting odds. Atlanta opened at +105.
- Boston was pegged by many as a SoFi Cup contender before the season started jockeying with Atlanta for the role of futures’ favorite. Boston has taken over the spot with New York GC now sporting the 2nd shortest odds with Atlanta 3rd.
- With playoffs lingering and the standings so tight, it’s important to note the tie-break criteria. In the event 2 or more teams have the same number of points, the 1st tie-breaker is holes won. Currently Atlanta, Boston and LAGC are tied with 15. Singles holes won is the next tie-breaker with Atlanta holding a slim 8-7 lead over Boston.
- LAGC will tell you that winning the regular season is meaningless. The club finished first a year ago with a 4-0-1 ledger but was bounced by New York in the semifinals. In fact the top 2 seeds were bounced in the semis.
Tomorrow’s Golf League Schedule and Betting Lines
Though they are in first thanks to the second tie-breaker, Atlanta’s lead is precarious having played one more match than Boston. One thing that will help is the return of Justin Thomas, who announced on social media he plans to return from injury on Monday.
Thomas led Atlanta to the title last season but has not played competitively since the Ryder Cup last September. He recently announced that he was cleared to resume golf activity following surgery in November. “I know how important it is to get this injury behind me so that I’m only looking forward over the course of the season,” he said.
One betting angle to consider is that all 4 rostered players on Boston and Los Angeles are playing at The Genesis Invitational with not a lot of time to travel across the country for Monday’s TGL matches.
Alternates have performed well, though. The debut of Neal Shipley won’t be forgotten anytime soon with Los Angeles taking the brunt of his record appearance. Shipley recorded the first ace in TGL history and sent LAGC packing with a birdie on 14 dropping LA to 1-2.
TGL Schedule
Monday, February 23, 2026
Atlanta Drive Golf Club (+110) vs. Boston Common Golf (-138), 5 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Los Angeles Golf Club (NA) vs. Atlanta Drive Golf Club (NA), 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
- Atlanta will be bolstered by the return of Justin Thomas and the team should hold on to alternate Chris Gotterup. A 2-time winner on the PGA Tour already this season, Gotterup credits his work with the TGL golf team for his early Tour success.
- The Boston roster of Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott are competing at The Genesis Invitational making it likely designated alternate Michael Thorbjornsen plays. He’s tied for the TGL lead with 3 singles holes won.
- Los Angeles will be facing roster decisions as well. And the situation is more dramatic with a loss leaving the club on the fringe of the playoff race. LA has had a more difficult time this year going 1-2. They have the tie break advantage for the No. 3 seed but could fall off the pace with another loss.
TGL Week 8 Monday Top Matchups
- I doubt we’ll see Thomas play both matches for Atlanta since this is his first competitive outing since surgery last November. And playing competitively is much different than hitting a bucket of balls on the range. Backing whoever opposes JT in Singles is a safe TGL wager.
- McIlroy clubbed a record-breaking 358-yard drive against The Bay last time out and Thorbjornsen continued his remarkable play sinking a 14-foot birdie putt to extend the lead. He also prevented The Bay from getting back in the match by calmly draining a 6-foot putt with the Hammer in play to halve the hole.
Best TGL Bet for Week 8 Monday
- The pressure is on LAGC and I think they come out ready to play in the nightcap of the doubleheader. This is a tough spot for Atlanta having to compete shortly after an emotional match with Boston for first place in the overall standings. And regardless of the outcome of the first match, Atlanta should be fatigued emotionally leaving the door open for LA to get a crucial win.
TGL Week 8 Monday Betting Tips
- There are times when you can get favorable odds on early bets. This isn’t one of them. Rosters and lineups for all three teams have not been set at the time of this writing so holding off to see which players actually make the cut prior to placing a bet is the strongest betting tip.
