Entering their doubleheader on Feb. 24 New York Golf Club was in a good position to return to the playoffs. However, losses to The Bay GC and Boston Common Golf left NY below the playoff cut line entering their final match of the season. New York upset Los Angeles Golf Club in last season’s semifinals to reach the SoFi Cup championship. They need a win on Monday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
TGL Preview
Los Angeles and New York are among 4 teams fighting for the final 2 playoff spots. NY’s hopes took a significant hit with losses in last week’s matches and they currently have the lowest probability of reaching the postseason.
New York could still be alive in the playoff hunt with a win but it needs the other matches to work in its favor and the tie-breaker of total holes won would likely be a factor. That not only puts pressure on the team led by Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler to win the match but also win a bunch of holes.
LA’s path to the playoffs has been more difficult this season and still hasn’t been secured entering their final match. LA topped the standings last season not losing a regulation match. In desperate need of a win last week, LA helped its cause with an impressive 7-3 win over defending champ Atlanta. LA can clinch its spot in the semifinals with a win on Monday.
- After losing their second straight match, 11-5 to The Bay on Feb. 9, LAGC rebounded in a must-win scenario against Atlanta last week. A lineup featuring 3 players ranked among the top 5 in the OWGR struck early and never let up, taking down the defending champs 7-3.
- With a chance to clinch a role in the playoffs and to avenge a loss in last season’s semifinals, we could see LA trot out the same lineup that took down Atlanta last week. No. 3 ranked Tommy Fleetwood, No. 4 Justin Rose and No. 5 Collin Morikawa won the first three holes and never trailed against Atlanta.
- With just an 8 percent chance of securing one of the final playoff spot, you can expect New York to pull out all the stops. That would include liberal use of the Hammer. That hasn’t been a good move this season with a minus-4 Hammer points differential.
- Getting contributions from Xander Schauffele would also help New York’s chances. It’s been a tough TGL season for the X-man, who has yet to win a Singles hole or Singles point. New York scored just 5 points in last week’s doubleheader loss.
- New York was facing a win-and-in scenario in last season’s finale and the lineup of Fowler, Schauffele and Cam Young came through in a 10-6 win over Boston. The squad needs that same magic on Monday.
Tomorrow’s Golf League Schedule and Betting Lines
With Atlanta Drive finishing its season and securing a playoff spot last week, the remaining TGL golf teams will do the same as the second season of the Tomorrow’s Golf League wraps up this week. Los Angeles and The Bay control their own destiny and can join Atlanta and Boston in the semifinals with a win.
Having 3 of the 5 highest ranked players in the world on the roster should boost LA’s chances of getting a win. The trio of Morikawa, Rose and Fleetwood were dynamic last week and the team doesn’t skip a beat with Sahith Theegala inserted in the lineup.
From a betting standpoint, look for New York to be more aggressive on every shot. The team needs a match win to have a chance and securing a big number of hole wins will aid in the tie-break scenario. TGL betting odds have not yet surfaced for the match but expect LA to be favored.
TGL Schedule
Monday, March 2, 2026, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Los Angeles Golf Club (N/A) vs. New York Golf Club (N/A)
- After its run to the SoFi Cup Final last season New York was getting some love in the TGL futures odds market. However, their status suffered a major setback with a pair of losses last week dropping them to 1-3 and below the playoff cut line.
- Boasting a star-studded lineup and looking to avenge last season’s playoff loss, LA is the favorite in this matchup. New York made a second half run last season after a 0-2 start and rode that momentum to the SoFi Cup Final. It’s late now and NY has dropped down the TGL betting odds futures board.
- A key to LA’s game is its performance on par-5 holes. They were 4-0-1 in a win over Jupiter Links and 0-4-1 in a loss to The Bay. They went 1-1-3 on par 5s in last week’s win over Atlanta.
- The Atlanta curse was debunked in last week’s doubleheader loss. New York entered the day having played 10 TGL matches, 4 of them against Atlanta. NYGC was 0-4 in those contests and 4-1-1 against every other team. Of course NY lost both matches by a combined score of 14-5.
TGL Los Angeles GC vs. New York GC Top Matchups
- LA will usually put Collin Morikawa in a position to take advantage of his crisp iron play. Last month’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner has been one of the better players in the TGL this season and will be a difficult matchup for whatever NYGC player goes against him. With 13 Triples points won and 16 total points won Morikawa ranks 2nd in the TGL.
- On the verge of elimination from the playoffs, New York has nothing to lose in this match. Expect Cam Young to get a start so NY can use his lengthy drives to try and gain some ground on the par 5s and long par 4s. Young averages more than 322 yards off the tee.
Best TGL Bet for Los Angeles GC vs. New York GC
- You can bet the members of LAGC remember what happened in the semifinals last season. Entering as the No. 1 seed the team was upset 6-4 suffering its first regulation TGL loss. With a chance to extend the match Tommy Fleetwood missed a short birdie putt to win the hole on No. 14 giving NY the win. Morikawa also took some responsibility for the setback. “I didn’t play great and I take responsibility for that,” he said. LA has a chance to redeem itself against a struggling opponent.
TGL Los Angeles GC vs. New York GC Betting Tips
- Revenge is a strong motivator and LA is looking for it after last season’s playoff loss. And 3 of the top 5 ranked players in the world came together last week. NY has to take some risks and that’s not always a good strategy in the game of golf.
