TGL Betting Preview: Jupiter Links GC vs Los Angeles GC

The presence of Tiger Woods failed to prevent Jupiter Links Golf Club from winning its season opener. Woods did not play but offered his mates moral support. The good news is that one team will get its first victory of the new season with Los Angeles Golf Club looking to rebound from heart-wrenching 7-5 loss to Boston Common.

TGL Preview

We won’t get to see Tiger Woods play as he continues to rehab from another back surgery, but Woods has vowed to be at every match to encourage his team. Whatever he’s doing didn’t work last week with Jupiter Links falling to New York GC, 8-3, in their season opener.

There isn’t much time to ponder what went wrong in the first match with Jupiter Links set to take the TGL green against Los Angeles GC on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 7 p.m. ET. The match will be televised on ESPN.

With Woods on the shelf, Jupiter Links added Akshay Bhatia as an alternate. He did his best to help the team win a match, something they’ve rarely done since the TGL started. In a losing effort Bhatia was named Player of the Match thanks to perfect fairway accuracy. Now he hopes to deliver a win. Bhatia was teamed with Kevin Kisner and Max Homa and the trio started out fast winning the first two holes and leading 3-1 after four.

  • Jupiter was the last team this season to play a match and have a quick turnaround with another one following their opening loss to New York GC.
  • Jupiter Links opened as a -150 underdog on the TGL betting odds with LAGC a -188 favorite.
  • Slow starts hindered Jupiter Links last season, but it was the end of the match that did them in last week. JLGC won the first two holes and three of the first four, but were blanked 7-0 over the remaining 11 holes.
  • Recent TGL futures have Jupiter Links with the longest odds of winning the title this season at +1000. LAGC is in the middle of the 6-team pack at +410.
  • “We were the Bad News Bears and we don’t want to be the Bad News Bears 2. No more sequels here,” Tiger Woods said after the loss to New York.

Tomorrow’s Golf League Schedule and Betting Lines

  • Some players admittedly had a difficult time adjusting to the Tomorrow’s Golf League schedule with the PGA Tour in full swing. With a majority of players back they hopefully learned how to manage their time. There were few issues last season and the TGL has scheduled matches to minimize conflicts. And, let’s face it, the atmosphere is a lot more subdued.
  • With teams playing only 5 matches starting the season 0-2 puts the loser in a steep hole. LAGC was the only team to not lose a match in regulation last regular season going 4-0-1, but since the playoffs they are 0-2. LA lost a semifinal match to New York and fell to Boston in the opener 7-5.

TGL Schedule

Jupiter Links Golf Club (+150) vs. Los Angeles Golf Club (-188)

  • Both teams are looking for their first match win of the season after starting 0-1. It’s not easy to reach the playoffs when opening in a hole so this match takes on added importance from a standings point of view.
  • Even the presence of Tiger Woods wasn’t enough to help last season. Jupiter Links suffered some embarrassing losses, including a 12-1 trouncing by Los Angeles in the season opener for both squads. JLGC was outscored 41-12 and won a league-low 10 holes.
  • Things looked similar in the end for Jupiter Links in their opener going the final 11 holes without winning a point.
  • LAGC went with Justin Rose, Collin Morkawa and Sahith Theegala in its opening match. The trio played well in Triples winning four points but lost the Singles battle 3-1 to drop the match. “We had a really good chance the whole day to kind of pull away and get a couple of points ahead and it didn’t go our way,” Theegala said about the loss.
  • For Los Angeles it was the same threesome that dominated Jupiter Links in a 12-1 win last season. A partisan JLGC crowd due to the debut of Tiger Woods didn’t faze Rose, who drained several putts for the early lead. Theegala also had a strong match setting the stage with several booming drives.

TGL Jupiter Links GC vs. Los Angeles GC Top Matchups

  • An issue for Jupiter Links last season was slow starts that put them behind early. They apparently solved that issue, at least in their first match, by winning the first two holes and taking a 3-1 lead over New York after four. Unfortunately the wheels fell off after that with the team going scoreless over the final 11 holes and losing the match 8-3.
  • A critical area for improvement for JLGC is on the green. In their match with Los Angeles last season they failed to make a putt from a distance longer than 10 feet. In their opening match the problems continued with nothing to show from 10 feet out. And putts shorter than 10 feet were an adventure as well.
  • Successful use of the hammer can have a massive impact on the outcome of a match. Both teams were reminded of that in their season openers, and in a negative way. LA had a minus-3 Hammer points differential in its match with Boston Commons, including a 2-point swing when Rory McIlroy drained a birdie putt at the 8th hole. That proved to be the difference in LA’s 7-5 loss.

Best TGL Bet for Jupiter Links GC vs. Los Angeles GC

  • Getting to the green wasn’t a problem for Jupiter Links in its opening match. JLGC hit 90 percent of fairways and 86.7 percent Greens in Regulation, which are both tops in Tomorrow’s Golf League. However, they failed to make a putt longer than 10 feet and weren’t much better from a shorter distance. Putting can be contagious in team golf and all it takes is one player to step up with the flat stick.
  • Five of the six players who took the SoFi Center playing surface for last season’s match are scheduled to peg it up on Tuesday. That includes the starting trio of Rose, Morikawa and Theegala for LAGC. The three played impeccable golf in a 12-1 demolition of Jupiter last January.
  • After an impressive TGL debut with Jupiter in the opener, Akshay Bhatia will once again swing the sticks in place of Woods. He’ll be joined by holdovers Max Homa and Kevin Kisner.
