Ravens vs. Bills Odds, Picks & Betting Tips

NFL

The marquee game of opening weekend is the Sunday Night Football matchup between AFC heavyweights. In a playoff rematch from last season’s divisional round, the Baltimore Ravens visit the Buffalo Bills with the last two league MVP’s squaring off. The game kicks off from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY at 8:20 p.m. ET on September 7 and will air on NBC.

Ravens at Bills Preview

AFC quarterbacks have had a monopoly on the NFL MVP winning the last three awards and seven of the last nine. Lamar Jackson won it twice in that stretch most recently in 2023. Some would argue he did enough to win it again last year, but he was supplanted by Josh Allen, who led the to their third 13-win season in the last five, a fifth straight AFC East title and their second AFC Championship game appearance since 2020.

Jackson had a spectacular season throwing nearly 4,200 yards and tied for second with 41 TD passes. He threw only four picks and led the league with a 119.6 rating. As a result the Ravens led the NFL averaging 424.9 yards and ranked third scoring 30.5 points per outing. Though the defense regressed a little in 2024 the group still ranked among the top 10 in yards and points allowed and should be sturdy again.

  • The Ravens are 10-4-1 in their last 15 regular season games.
  • Jackson is 70-24 in 94 career regular season starts.
  • Baltimore has ranked among the top 7 in the NFL in scoring in all four seasons Jackson has started at least 15 games.
  • The Ravens led the NFL last season averaging 187.6 rushing yards and have placed among the top 3 in seven straight seasons.

Winning a lot of games and the league MVP is great, but the Bills will have to get past Kansas City to reach the ultimate goal of playing in the Super Bowl. That’s further down the road and in what could be a soft division the Bills have some wiggle room. With Allen running the show they are clearly the best in the AFC East. Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 TDs last year with an additional 12 rushing TDs.

The defense dropped out of the top 10 for the first time four seasons in yards and points allowed. But the group made up for it with 32 takeaways and led the league with a plus-24 turnover margin. The additions of Joey Bosa and Shaq Thompson should help the unit move back into its place among the NFL’s best.

  • The Bills are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 September games.
  • Buffalo turned the ball over a NFL low eight times last season and had multiple giveaways in a game just once.
  • Allen is 76-34 in 110 career regular season starts.

Ravens at Bills Predictions

Both teams have had stellar regular seasons over the last several seasons and more of the same is expected. Buffalo reshaped its defense and the Ravens have been solid on that side of the ball annually under John Harbaugh. Baltimore’s ability to run the football with Jackson and Derrick Henry will allow them to control the game and ultimately result in a cover victory.
