Raptors at Cavaliers Odds, Preview & Betting Tips
The winner of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first round playoff series between Toronto and Cleveland will seize control. With the home team winning each of the first four games the pressure mounts on the Cavs, who earned home court advantage for this series finishing the regular season six games ahead of the Raptors.
What happened during the regular season has no bearing come playoff time. However, the Raptors are hoping their success against the Cavs during the regular year can give them a boost to their first playoff series win since 2020.
Raptors at Cavaliers Preview
Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first round playoff series between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers is set for Wednesday, April 29, 2026 inside Rocket Arena in Cleveland. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET with the contest televised live on ESPN.
Public Betting Odds Factors
- The home team has won and covered the NBA playoff odds in each of the first four games, a trend that favors the Cavs in Game 5. Cleveland won the first two games by 13 and 15 points and opened as an 8.5-point home favorite.
- Backing the Cavs at home has paid off lately. Dating back to the end of the regular season over their last six home contests the Cavaliers haven’t lost and they have five payouts. Overall the Cavs have been good at home winning more than 67 percent of their games at Rocket Arena.
- With their backs against the wall the Raptors responded with a pair of wins at home to even the series. A victory in Game 4 when shooting as poorly as the Raptors did is a testament to their resiliency.
- Toronto made just 32 percent of its shots overall and was 4 of 30 from 3-point range, yet the Raptors still won 93-89 by forcing 17 Cavaliers turnovers and limiting James Harden and Donovan Mitchell to a combined 12 of 38 from the field. In Game 4 Harden had more turnovers (7) than made field goals (6).
- The Raptors are well aware of what they did during the regular season. And trust me the Cavs won’t soon forget. Toronto swept the 3-game series with two wins taking place in Cleveland. The Cavs muzzled the talk by winning Games 1 and 2 at home, but now with the series tied Cleveland will face the inevitable talk.
- The Cavs swung a deal for Harden to guide them through the rigors of the postseason. Harden helped transform the offense into a more efficient unit during the year averaging 20.5 points and 7.7 assists in 26 games. Harden is also playoff experienced, having reached the postseason every year. However he’s never won a title.
Raptors at Cavaliers Predictions
- Game 4 was an absolute disaster offensively for both clubs and it came out of nowhere. The Cavs had the fourth-highest scoring offense and scored at least 100 points in their last 18 regular season games and the first three games of this series. Toronto shot better than 48 percent as a team during the season but between them in Game 4 the Cavs and Raps were 14 of 70 (20%) from deep.
- So I’m going to go out on a limb and say the teams shake off their dismal Game 4 performance. The Cavs will lean heavily on Harden and Mitchell and the duo will respond when needed. The first three games of the series were decided by 12 points or more yet the games seem closer. I do think getting 8.5-points makes Toronto worth backing.
Raptors at Cavaliers Betting Tips
- Home court advantage is more evident in the NBA and the Raptors will have to steal one to win the series. They are just 2-8 SU and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games.
- Cleveland has been one of the worst teams against the NBA betting line this season with a cover rate of 40.7 percent, the second lowest in the league.
- The OVER is 12-8 in Cleveland’s last 20 games overall.
Raptors at Cavaliers Head to Head and Key Stats
- Toronto has won 5 of 7 meetings this year, including a sweep of the 3-game regular season series. In 4 of those 5 wins the Raptors were catching points with two of them coming in Cleveland.
- James Harden hasn’t helped out his mates with the inability to handle the ball. Harden had 8 turnovers in Game 3 and another 7 in Game 4. In the four games he’s committed 24 turnovers by himself and the Cavs average 17.5 turnovers. The number is lower in home games, though.
