Playing alongside a limited field Signature Event, the PGA Tour offers its first alternate field tournament this week at the Puerto Rico Open. With the sports big boys playing in Florida some lesser known talents will not only get a chance to win a PGA tournament but also pick up valuable FedExCup points. Rasmus Højgaard opened as the PGA golf odds betting favorite, which suggests it is a wide open field.

Alternate field tournaments offer bettors a unique opportunity to cash in on underdogs in what is considered to be a wide-open field. However, the play of Hojgaard in the European’s Ryder Cup win last year paved the way for his position as the favorite. And he’s coming off a T9 at the Cognizant Classic, his 5th top 10 in 12 starts.
Second favorite Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen will have to turn things around quickly to justify his position on the odds board. The third highest ranked player in the field has struggled recently finishing 40th or worse in his last 4 starts showing he’s not keeping up with weaker fields.
Given the length of the course and few obstacles to get in the way, targeting big hitters is a smart move. Eric Cole is on a nice run going par or better in 11 of his last 14 rounds. He has power off the tee and ranks among the top 20 on Tour in putting average.
The Puerto Rico Open Leaderboard
For all things related to the PGA Tour visit their website for updated player profiles and a live leaderboard. Tournament scores are tracked in real time giving fans and bettors the feeling of being on the course. The full field of up to 130 golfers will be trimmed to the top 65 and ties after 36 holes.
Who Won the 2025 Puerto Rico Open?
Karl Vilips was on fire last year carding 67 or lower in all four rounds to finish 3 shots better than Neergaard-Petersen to claim his first PGA Tour title. Vilips played his best down the stretch dropping a birdie putt on the 18th to close with an 8-under 64 to finish at 23-under in just his third Tour start.
Going off at +6500 Vilips rewarded his backers with a nice payday. Closing as the favorite, Niklas Norgaard finished at 13-under in a tie for 34th.
