Week 8 of the NFL season features several key matchups, including a Thursday Night NFL game on Prime Video between the Vikings and Chargers, Aaron Rodgers facing his former team, as the Steelers host the Packers on Sunday Night Football on NBC and a Monday Night Football showdown between the Commanders and Chiefs on ABC and ESPN. Six teams get the week off: Detroit, Las Vegas, L.A. Rams, Arizona, Seattle, and Jacksonville.
Notable NFL Week 8 Odds
Colts -14 vs. Titans – Heaviest favorite on the NFL betting odds board. Indianapolis has covered three straight by 7+ and faces a Tennessee team that is 0-3 ATS on the road. NFL odds opened at -13 and the number is up to -14.
Cowboys at Broncos (Over 50.5) – NFL Week 8 highest total. Denver’s offense averaging 27.2 PPG in the past month; Dallas is 4-1 to the over since Week 3. Books are expecting an explosive altitude duel.
Packers -3 at Steelers – The public will likely take the Steelers with Aaron Rodgers facing his former team, but the Packers are well supported by the oddsmakers. The under is worth a look with two top 7 defenses.
Chiefs -10.5 vs. Commanders – Largest primetime spread. Kansas City’s defense No. 3 in EPA per play and the Commanders are just 1-3 ATS on the road. 62 percent of bets are on the Chiefs.
- Biggest favorite: Colts -14 (vs. Titans)
- Tightest spread: Texans -2 (vs. 49ers)
- Highest total: Cowboys-Broncos 50.5
- Lowest total: Browns-Patriots 40
- Most ticketed team: Chiefs (62 percent public handle)
NFL Week 8 Best Bets
It was a light week in Week 7 and it was a 1-1 week with the predictions, as the Titans got blown out, while the Cardinals covered the NFL betting pointspread. As a reminder, when it comes to NFL best bets each week you should know that I go against the grain with almost all of my picks. If the public does well, then I will probably struggle, but if the public loses, then I will probably have a good week. There are not many games this week that the public has a strong opinion on for us to go against, but let’s look at Week 8 NFL predictions.
- Minnesota Vikings +3.5 at Los Angeles Chargers – The public is very leery of taking the Vikings right now with Minnesota having concerns at quarterback with J.J. McCarthy still gimpy and Carson Wentz not at full strength. The Chargers have slipped in recent weeks and don’t appear trustworthy. I’ll go against the public and take the Vikings plus the points.
- New York Jets +6.5 at Cincinnati Bengals – The one team that the public wants no part of is the Jets and who can argue. Sometimes when we go against the public we simply have to hold our nose and do it and that is the case in this game as we take the Jets plus the points.
- New Orleans Saints +5.5 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The public also doesn’t want much to do with the Saints and this line does seem short with Tampa laying less than a touchdown. We’ll go against the public and take the Saints plus the points.
- Miami Dolphins +7 at Atlanta Falcons – This is another game in which it is tough to go against the public but the public is all over the Falcons in this game, as they want nothing to do with a bad Miami team. This is hard, but we go against the public and take the Dolphins plus the points.
NFL Week 8 Parlays
- Bills -7 vs. Panthers, Colts -14 vs. Titans and Chiefs -10.5 vs. Commanders – This parlay is all about taking the power teams and laying the points. All three teams should win convincingly so we’ll lay the points. This goes against my normal strategy of taking underdogs, but since this is a parlay, we’ll just lay the points and call it a power parlay.
- Vikings +3.5, Cowboys and Broncos Over 50.5, Steelers +3 – With this parlay we’ll call it the marquee parlay as we take the points with the Vikings in the Thursday night game, play the Cowboys and Broncos over the highest total of the week and take Aaron Rodgers to get revenge against his former team, as we take the points with the Steelers in Sunday Night Football.
