Last week we saw four teams lose for the first time this season leaving just two unbeatens as we head into Week 5 of the NFL campaign. The Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles look to stay perfect as home favorites on the NFL betting line on Sunday. This time of year also brings about the first round of byes with four teams, the Falcons, Bears, Packers and Steelers, all idle. That means a smaller slate of games to use for parlays and teasers.
NFL Week 5 Parlay Picks
Last week proved to be a good one with the four parlay picks all cashing. If you’re still hesitant about playing a parlay or teaser check out this NFL betting guide to learn more. There are two fewer games to choose from this week with the first byes coming into play so we’ll have to play closer attention to teams we might otherwise not consider.
Two underdogs paid off last Sunday with the Steelers winning outright as a 2.5-point dog and the Cowboys getting a tie at +7. I also had success with picks on the total backing the OVER in Buffalo’s win and the UNDER in the Chargers/Giants contest. Winning isn’t easy especially with multiple wagers so let’s see if we can continue the heater.
The offenses of the Giants and Saints are nothing special, but they are good enough to score points against stop units that rank in the bottom third of the NFL in points allowed. The Giants showed some life last week with Jaxon Dart at the helm giving me enough confidence to back the OVER on a low total.
Buffalo gets a more manageable spread this week in their matchup with the Patriots. The Bills failed to cover the last two games when laying double digits, though they won them both by at least 10 points. And the Pats are 1-3 against the NFL point spread in their last four games when catching at least 6-points.
- Giants at Saints OVER 41
- Broncos at Eagles UNDER 43.5
- Bills -7.5 vs. Patriots
- Buccaneers +3.5 at Seahawks
NFL Week 5 Teaser Picks
Buying points to move the spread and/or total in your favor is supposed to make NFL teasers easier to win. It doesn’t always work out that way, but when it does it’s a thing of beauty. And last week’s teaser ticket was nice to look at. For the first time this season all four teaser picks came through making it a clean sweep.
Three of the four teaser picks from last week would have paid without manipulating the numbers. Jacksonville beat San Francisco outright and the Lions easily covered the 9.5-point line against Cleveland. The Ravens and Chiefs also went OVER the closing total early in the fourth quarter of their contest. Teasing the spread from +3 to +9 proved beneficial for my Jets pick with a late TD and 2-point conversion getting them within 27-21.
The Jags paid off last week so backing them again with a teased spread of +9.5 looks like a good bet. There’s a different vibe around the club and the way they force turnovers will have an impact. Jacksonville has at least three takeaways in every game and they’ve forced more turnovers in four games than they did all of last season.
Dallas has allowed more than 30 points in three straight games and is last in the NFL in total defense and against the pass while ranking next to last in points allowed. Heck, this group can make Justin Fields look good. The Jets have gone OVER the total in three of four games allowing an average of 30 points. Tease the total in this one just to make sure.
- Cowboys at Jets OVER teased total of 42
- Lions teased spread of -4 at Bengals
- Titans at Cardinals OVER teased total of 35
- Jaguars teased spread of +9.5 vs. Chiefs
