NFL Week 5 Best Bets & Odds 2025

NFL Week 5 odds mean that the 2025 NFL schedule is already about a quarter of the way over with. The NFL Week 5 betting slate features several critical matchups, including a clash of NFC West rivals on Thursday night and a prime-time AFC East showdown on Sunday Night Football.

Notable NFL Week 5 Odds

49ers at Rams (-6) (Thursday, October 2) The NFC West rivals meet for the first time this season. The Rams are home favorites, a rare instance in this traditionally competitive matchup. The line continues to rise, as it is now up to Rams -6, with money continuing to come in on the Rams.

Cowboys at Jets (+3) Dallas travels to New York, where the Cowboys are road favorites. The Jets are getting three points at home, reflecting recent market skepticism regarding the Jets' offensive output this season. This line movement suggests the Cowboys' offense is still respected, especially since they are coming off a 40-point output last week.

Broncos at Eagles (-4) Denver travels to Philadelphia, where the Eagles are the established home favorite in NFL betting odds. The Eagles are laying four points, a number that respects the Broncos' defense while still acknowledging the significant home-field advantage and talent disparity favoring the Eagles.

Patriots at Bills (-7.5) (Sunday Night Football) This AFC East rivalry takes the Sunday night spotlight in Buffalo. The Bills are large home favorites at -7.5. For the Patriots to cover, they will need a low-scoring game focused on clock control and minimizing the Bills' explosive plays.

Chiefs at Jaguars (+3) (Monday Night Football) The Chiefs travel to Jacksonville for the Monday Night contest. This line suggests the Jaguars are viewed as a high-quality team, with the home-field advantage effectively making this game nearly a pick.

NFL Week 5 Best Bets

I am coming off a week in which I went 2-1 with the NFL picks. As a reminder, when it comes to NFL best bets each week you should know that I go against the grain with almost all of my picks. If the public does well, then I will probably struggle, but if the public loses, then I will probably have a good week. Let’s look at Week 5 NFL predictions.

  • San Francisco 49ers +6 at Los Angeles Rams

The public is all over the Rams this week as the NFL betting odds continue to go higher. I know the 49ers haven’t looked great but are the 49ers any worse with Mac Jones at quarterback over Brock Purdy?  I’ll take the points with the 49ers.

  • Washington Commanders +3 at Los Angeles Chargers

The public is on the Chargers which is a little surprising considering Los Angeles has not been a trustworthy favorite and the Commanders get Daniels back this week at quarterback. I’ll go against the public and take Washington.

  • Cincinnati Bengals +10.5 vs. Detroit Lions

The one loss last week was on the Bengals plus the points, but when it comes to these picks I simply go against the public and the public wants nothing to do with the Bengals right now. This is hard to do, but I’ll take the big points with Cincinnati.

  • New Orleans Saints -2.5 vs. New York Giants

The public is going with the Giants but the NFL odds are moving in favor of New Orleans.  The Giants definitely looked better last week and the public remembers what they saw last. This New York team is still not very good and the public may be overreacting. This is a scary one, as the public almost never takes underdogs, but I’ll tepidly go against the public and take the Saints minus the points.

  • Denver Broncos +4 at Philadelphia Eagles

The public is backing the Eagles at home this week. Philly is unbeaten and has looked good at times, but Denver is a quality team getting points. I’ll take the points with the Broncos.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars +3 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The public likes what they saw from the Chiefs last week, but Jacksonville is a good team and they are at home. I’ll go against the public and take the Jaguars.

NFL Week 5 Betting Stats

  • McVay's Short-Rest Edge: Rams coach Sean McVay has an outstanding record when coaching on short rest, with a 17-7 ATS mark. The Rams host the 49ers on Thursday Night Football this week.
  • Titans' Historic ATS Slump: The Tennessee Titans continue to be the worst team to bet on, holding a 3-18 ATS record since the 2024 season. They have failed to cover in 18 of their last 21 games.
  • Detroit's Dominant ATS Run: The Detroit Lions are a phenomenal bet, going 50-21-1 ATS (70.4%) in the regular season since 2021.

NFL Week 5 Betting Tips

  • Giants at Saints: The Saints are a live home underdog facing a Giants team that ranks poorly in run defense and is coming off a "sell-high" win.
  • Vikings vs. Browns: This London game features two top defensive units and two bottom-quartile offenses that are struggling with injury on their offensive lines. The total dropping to 36 historically favors the Under.
  • Titans at Cardinals: Arizona has the rest advantage and a solid defense and they will be facing a Titans team on a 10-game straight-up losing streak and in the middle of a historic ATS slump.
