NFL Odds & Betting Tips: Eagles at Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles stopped a 3-game slide with an emphatic 31-0 win over Las Vegas last week. They can clinch their second straight NFC East title with a Week 16 win over their division rival Washington Commanders. The Eagles are laying about a touchdown in NFL betting odds against the Commanders. The game takes place on Saturday, December 20 at 5 p.m. ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD and can be seen on FOX.

Eagles at Commanders Preview

Any issues with the defending champs were put to rest with last week’s performance. The schedule aligned perfectly for the Eagles, who needed a patsy to end a 3-game losing streak and repair a sputtering offense. Enter the Raiders and their NFL worst record. In a confidence-boosting 31-0 win the Eagles dominated in every phase of the game.

Jalen Hurts has taken much of the blame for Philly’s scoring problems. In five games before the Vegas matchup the team failed to score more than 21 points and averaged just 16.2 points in that stretch. Hurts had more interceptions (5) than TD passes (4) in that span and completed just 57.5 percent of his passes. He was 12 of 15 with 3 TDs and zero picks against Vegas.

  • As good as Hurts and the offense was against the Raiders, the defense was better allowing just 75 total yards posting the teams first shutout in 7 years.
  • In an attempt to upgrade their defense, the Eagles unretired Brandon Graham last month and he played a role in the blanking with a pair of sacks
  • The Eagles earned their first payout in four games covering the 13.5-point NFL betting line against the Raiders. Overall they’ve been profitable going 8-6 ATS.
  • Philly dominated the division last season but they haven’t had the same success in 2025 going 2-2 against the Giants and Cowboys with just one payout in those contests.

Washington made it official putting Jayden Daniels on ice for the remainder of the season. Injury issues for the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year were a major reason why the Commanders have struggled. They ended an 8-game losing streak with last week’s 29-21 win over the Giants covering the 3-point spread for just their second payout in nine games.

Former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota has filled in admirably at QB. He was efficient last week going 10 of 19 for 211 yards and a TD. For the season Mariota has completed 62 percent of his passes for 1,600 yards and 10 TDs with the Commanders 2-5 in his seven starts.

  • After their surprise run to the NFC Championship last season, the team formerly known as the Redskins has been relegated to spoiler. They can impact the Eagles playoff future with two games against the defending champs in the last three.
  • Defense has been a concern with the Commanders allowing the second-most yards per play in the NFL and boasting the 28th ranked red zone unit.
  • Washington has the 4th best ground game in the NFL averaging more than 137 yards. Jacory Croskey-Merritt had 96 of the teams 145 yards last week with a TD.
  • Washington has 20 giveaways and is 30th in the NFL with a minus-12 turnover margin.

Eagles at Commanders Predictions

Both teams can run the football with the Commanders having the 4th best rushing offense and Saquon Barkley carrying the load for the Eagles. Washington’s defense has been philanthropic all season and against a relatively low total I can see the teams going OVER.
