NCAAF Week 4 Predictions: Odds, Best Bets & Preview

Some teams have played a conference game already, but Week 4 of the college football season is the unofficial start of league play with several high-profile confrontations on the docket. Big games happen nearly every week in the SEC and the start of league play has several blockbusters. The matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee is one of four SEC games between ranked foes. Not to be outdone, the Big Ten has a tasty slate with former Pac-12 rivals Oregon and USC battling as well as a top 20 matchup between Michigan and Iowa. Off to their first 3-0 start since 2019, Florida is now ranked and will host No. 4 Ole Miss in a key SEC tilt. The Gators opened as a 3-point NCAAF betting line favorite.

NCAAF Today: Weekly College Football Schedule

Week 4 of the 2026 college football season features a heavy slate of conference matchups headlined by six games between ranked foes. The biggest matchup on the schedule has No. 1 ranked Texas playing its first road game of the season with the Horns making their first trip to Knoxville to take on No. 14 Tennessee. The Vols have displayed a potent offense early in the season averaging 47.7 points, tied for seventh nationally. Early NCAAF odds have Texas as a 4-point favorite on the betting line with the total at 56.5.

The NCAAF betting week starts on Thursday night with an intriguing Group of Six matchup between Coastal Carolina of the Sun Belt Conference and Liberty from C-USA. The game marks the return of Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell to Coastal where he built a powerhouse program during his tenure that ended following the 2022 season. 2023. Liberty opened as a slight 2.5-point favorite. Three of the five games on Friday will be part of an ESPN tripleheader starting with the Army at Temple clash at 4 p.m. ET. UAB hosts Navy at 7 p.m. ET with the ACC contest between Clemson and Cal finishing off the slate at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Biggest NCAAF Games Today

• The SEC slate gets going with several marquee matchups headlined by No. 1 Texas at No. 14 Tennessee. The Vols have been impressive against a less than stellar group of opponents beating Furman, Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State by a combined score of 143-42. Texas opened as a 4-point NCAAF odds favorite in their first road game.

• After their emotional win over former coach Lane Kiffin and LSU, Ole Miss moved to No. 4 in the national rankings. This is a prime letdown spot for the Rebels who hit the road against an undefeated, surging Florida squad. The Gators beat Auburn last week 44-39 in their lowest scoring game of the season. With two high-powered offenses the NCAAF odds total opened at 61.5.

• The schedule heats up for the No. 12 USC Trojans with a Week 4 tilt against No. 20 Oregon with major implications in the Big Ten standings. USC waltzed through its non-conference slate beating up three G6 teams and narrowly escaped winless Rutgers in its league opener last week. Oregon took out its frustrations in an 84-0 win against FCS Portland State last week. The Ducks are a slight favorite on the opening NCAAF betting line.

NCAAF Scores Today

• There have been a lot of points scored early in this college football season and the Oregon Ducks became the second team this year to surpass the 80-point mark in their 84-0 win over Portland State last week. James Madison has the most points in a game this season with 87. NCAAF scores today have climbed with 16 teams averaging more than 45 points.

• Points could be at a premium in the Big Ten matchup between Iowa and Michigan. Once again the Hawkeyes are stout defensively pitching their second shutout in three games this season in a 55-0 win over FCS Northern Iowa and boast the best scoring defense in the FBS allowing just 4.3 points per game.

• Georgia leads the nation in scoring averaging 59.3 points in three games. The output last week wasn’t as large against SEC opponent Arkansas, but the Dawgs still put up 45 in their win. If this week’s matchup with Oklahoma is anything like the last time the teams played, we could be in for an explosion of points. Georgia beat OU 54-48 in the CFP semifinal Rose Bowl at the end of the 2017 season.

NCAAF Odds for This Week

As the start of conference play gets underway the astronomical odds we saw in previous week have subsided. Power 4 teams are steering away from G6 and FCS foes pushing the odds for certain league games much closer. There are some steep lines in the Big Ten with Ohio State laying four touchdowns to visiting Illinois and Indiana a 21.5-point NCAAF betting favorite against visiting Northwestern. NCAAF odds have Georgia and Alabama positioned as two-touchdown favorites in their SEC matchups.

How to Read NCAAF Betting Lines

• Reading NCAAF betting lines requires understanding of three main types of wagers; the point spread, moneyline and the total (over/under). 

• The spread is designed to even the playing field between two unequal teams. The minus (-) sign indicates the favorite with the team needing to win by more than that number to win the bet. The underdog is shown with a plus (+) sign. They can with the game outright or lose by fewer points than the number to cash a winning ticket.

• The moneyline is a straight bet on the game winner. There is no point spread, but the payouts are adjusted based on who’s expected to win. The minus (-) number is the amount you must risk to profit $100. The plus (+) number is the amount of profit on a $100 wager.

• The total is a bet on the combined number of points scored regardless of who wins the game. If the teams score more than the set number the OVER wins. If fewer points are scored than the number the UNDER is a winner.

NCAAF Lines Movement to Watch

• There are several factors that will trigger NCAAF betting lines movement. Roster announcements prior to the game are a big reason and once into the season injuries to key players become a major factor. 

• A few factors have impacted the NCAAF odds in the SEC contest between Ole Miss and Florida. Rebels’ star running back Kewan Lacy exited last week’s game with LSU with a shoulder injury slowing the offense. Ole Miss hasn’t won in Gainesville in nearly 20 years pushing the line from Florida -1.5 to -3.

• Oregon has regained the trust of bettors after trouncing Portland State. The Ducks were originally a slight road underdog in their matchup with USC, but the line has jumped the fence with early sharp action backing the visitors making them a short road favorite.

• Playing their first road game of the season in a hostile environment at Tennessee, the line for Texas had a slight contraction moving from -4.5 to -4. 

NCAAF Predictions for This Week

After the drama of Week 3 that included an emotional win for Ole Miss over former coach Lane Kiffin and LSU, along with Kentucky upsetting Texas A&M, there has been a shake up in the rankings setting up an unstable and exciting Week 4. Stability has been a key in UCLA’s hot start making the Bruins a target in the Week 4 markets. UCLA is off to a 3-0 start covering the spread on the college football betting line in every game. The Bruins play their first road game of the season across the country against Maryland but with a short 2.5-point spread they cover in our NCAAF predictions.

• Playing their first road game of the season, the top-ranked Longhorns experience Rocky Top for the first time ever. This will be another new experience for Arch Manning and Texas against a Tennessee squad that’s undefeated with a stingy front seven that will disrupt Manning enough to stay within the short spread in our NCAAF predictions.

• The jury is still out on Oregon even after beating Portland State 84-0. Through the first part of the season the Trojans have shown better offensive consistency and the Ducks struggled to stop Boise State and Oklahoma State. Both teams have given up a lot of yards and points against FBS competition and playing at home gives USC the edge as a NCAAF pick.

• LSU and Texas A&M are reeling from disappointing losses last week. The game night atmosphere in Death Valley gives LSU a formidable advantage against a struggling team. Top analysts predict the Tigers to excel in the passing game against a secondary that faltered in an upset loss to Kentucky.

Upset Watch for This Week

• After their emotional win over LSU last week, Ole Miss climbed to No. 4 in the rankings, 17 spots higher than Florida, yet the Rebels opened as a 3-point underdog on the NCAAF lines. Going against Trinidad Chambliss is dangerous and if Ole Miss can work around an injury to Kewan Lacy they have the firepower to beat the Gators straight up.

Early NCAAF best bets for Week 4 of the college football season focus on high-stakes conference matchups, particularly in the SEC and Big Ten that offer prime betting value. Following a wild Week 3, the college football betting markets are heavily pricing in homefield advantages leaving several top teams vulnerable to an upset on the NCAAF lines.

Best NCAAF Spread Picks

• Arch Manning has experienced just about everything in his collegiate career so going into a hostile environment to face Tennessee won’t faze him. The Horns got a nice ‘tweener’ game stomping UTSA after beating Ohio State and prior to this game. Texas has a deep roster and a strong defense to neutralize the Vols and cover the short NCAAF line.

• Northwestern is 3-0 behind a potent offense, but they haven’t played a team close to what they’ll be dealing with in Indiana. The Hoosiers posted back to back shutouts and boasts an offense behind Josh Hoover and Turbo Richard that should outpace the Wildcats making IU an NCAAF best bet.
• The Bruins look completely different under new coach Bob Chesney going 3-0 to start the year behind a running game that averages nearly 290 yards a game. Running the ball effectively will also negate the cross country travel allowing UCLA to cover the short 2.5-point NCAAF line.

Best NCAAF Over/Under Picks

• Iowa and Michigan both rely on dominant defensive units. The Hawkeyes have a pair of shutouts and boast the country’s top scoring defense allowing just 4.3 points per game. The Wolverines concede just 13 points a game making this a throwback Big Ten battle that struggles to find the end zone.

• The Miami Hurricanes are off to a torrid start behind the pinpoint passing of Darian Mensah. The Canes QB completed 24 consecutive passes in a win over Wake Forest, but a rash of injuries in that game could slow the pace against Central Michigan making this a strong NCAAF pick to go UNDER the total.

NCAAF Best Bets This Week

• Texas has looked like the No. 1 team in the country and they will get tested by Tennessee. However, the deep roster, strong defense and Arch Manning will prove to be too much against the Vols leaving the Horns as a NCAAF best bet to cover the spread.

• Scoring 52 points against UTEP doesn’t inspire confidence in Michigan to penetrate the stout wall of Iowa. And I trust the Hawkeyes’ offense even less. The teams have a history of low scoring games with five of the last six going UNDER the total. This matchup has more of the same.

Ohio State rebounded from its dramatic Week 2 loss to Texas to batter Kent State 59-3 and remain the consensus favorite in the national championship NCAAF futures odds. Ole Miss saw its odds dip considerably following their statement win over LSU. The overall market has flattened suggesting an open field in the 12-team playoff era.
