Minnesota Lynx vs. Las Vegas Aces – Game Preview & Picks
Behind MVP favorite Napheesa Collier the Minnesota Lynx have amassed the best record in the WNBA with a solid lead over the defending champion New York Liberty. Looking to stay atop the overall standings, the Lynx visit the Las Vegas Aces for a nationally televised ABC contest on Saturday, August 2 from Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. One of the most successful teams over the last six seasons with back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, the Aces have slipped a bit in 2025 staying above .500 and in one of the final playoff spots. The Aces have their own MVP in A’ja Wilson, a three-time winner and arguably the best player in the league.
Lynx vs. Aces WNBA Game Preview
Basketball is a team game but two of the best in the sport face each other on Saturday. Collier has been the best player on the best team this season. She leads the WNBA averaging 23.8 points with 7.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists in just over 33 minutes of run time a game. Collier shoots 53.7 percent from the field and better than 90 percent from the free throw line. Her presence on both ends of the floor has the Lynx as one of the most efficient teams. Minnesota leads the league in field goal and three-point percentage while averaging the second most points. They also allow the fewest points and boast the second best field goal and three-point defense. The Lynx have yet to lose consecutive games bouncing back from their most recent setback to defeat the Liberty 100-93 behind 30 points and nine rebounds from Collier and 24 points from Kayla McBride to improve to 23-5.
Las Vegas has hovered around the .500 mark all season, never more than two games above or below the breakeven point. The Aces just finished a stretch where they played 10 of 12 games on the road with back to back wins over Dallas and Los Angeles improving to 14-13. The success of the team has faded but it’s not because of Wilson, who ranks second in the WNBA in scoring (22.1) and rebounding (9.1) while leading the circuit with 2.4 blocks per game. In the win over the Sparks on Tuesday Wilson had 34 points on 16 of 23 shooting with 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Jackie Young helped Las Vegas win and cover for a second straight game contributing a triple double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Lynx vs. Aces WNBA Predictions
Taking on the teams that have won the past three WNBA championships in consecutive games is a chance for the Lynx to show off as the best. They took care of business in the first leg beating the 2024 champion Liberty on Wednesday. The Aces won titles in 2022 and 2023 but have stumbled this season after winning more than 67 percent of their games in each of the previous five campaigns. With Collier having the best season of her career and a strong supporting cast that includes McBride, Courtney Williams and Alanna Smith, the Lynx have been tough to beat. Las Vegas needs to put together a solid run in the second half and they can do that with eight of their next 11 games at home.
Lynx vs. Aces WNBA Betting Tips
Minnesota is the best in the WNBA winning more than 82 percent of their games, and they’ve been the most profitable at the betting window going 16-11-1 against the WNBA betting line. Their weakness might be playing on the road where four of their five losses have come. Over their last eight road tilts the Lynx are just 4-4 SU and ATS. They might be getting hot or the Aces took advantage of a break in the schedule beating LA and Dallas the last two games. At 14-13 overall the Aces have stumbled at the betting window going 11-16 ATS.
Lynx vs. Aces Head-to-Head and Key Stats
Minnesota has put on a clinic winning and covering the spread in each of the last five head to head meetings. The clubs met just over a week ago in the Twin Cities with the Lynx recording a lopsided 109-78 victory behind 25 points from Collier. They also won the first matchup of the season 76-62 on June 17 with Wilson on the shelf and Collier totaling just seven points. Minnesota’s defense was instrumental in both victories and the group should again lead Minnesota to a win.
