Mavericks at Lakers: Odds, Picks & Preview

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers will forever be linked. Not because of what transpired on the court rather for the trade that sent generational talent Luka Doncic to the West Coast in what so far has been a lopsided deal.

Following their fifth straight win, 135-118 over the Clippers on Tuesday, in which Doncic scored 43 points and missed a triple-double by one rebound, the Lakers are tied for the second-best record in the Western Conference.

Mavericks at Lakers Preview

The first of four meetings this season between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers takes place on Friday, November 28, 2025. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with a live stream on Prime Video.

Public Betting Odds Factors

  • Despite their inability to consistently make 3-pointers the Lakers are a dangerous team offensively while also being one of the most profitable clubs at the betting window. During a winning streak that reached five games against the Clippers on Tuesday, the Lakers got the cash in four of those outings.
  • With a 12-5 record against the NBA betting line the Lakers are tied for the best cover rate in the league at 70.6 percent. They are 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four home games.
  • Since acquiring Doncic the Lakers are 2-0 against the Mavs. Doncic scored 45 points in LA’s 112-97 road win in April and collected a triple-double in his first game against his former team with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists.
  • Trading Doncic last season started a downward spiral for the Mavs that even Cooper Flagg can’t stop. Dallas enters this contest with the second-worst record in the West and owns the least efficient offense in the NBA. The Mavs cashed the UNDER in their last five games while averaging 104.6 points.

Mavericks at Lakers Predictions

  • It’s probably not a bad idea to target Doncic in the player prop market since he still has something to show the Mavs. He never wanted to leave Dallas, but the business end of the sport prevailed. Doncic has made a seamless transition to LA and is having a big season.
  • Doncic leads the NBA in scoring averaging 35.3 points while shooting 47 percent from the field. He also leads the Lakers in assists (9.2) and rebounds (8.8). The recent return of LeBron James could impact Luka’s scoring, but he’ll continue to run the offense.
  • It’s sad for Dallas that Max Christie has become the prized piece in the Doncic trade. Anthony Davis has played in only five games this season and continues to deal with injuries. That has left the door open for first overall draft pick Cooper Flagg to plant the flag, so to speak. Flagg averages 15.9 points but has struggled shooting from the field.
  • They have trouble shooting the ball which leads to fewer points and the least efficient offense in the NBA. That’s not a good recipe for the Mavs. Dallas ranks 27th in field goal percentage and 29th in 3-point accuracy and scoring. The UNDER is 5-0 in their five road games.

Mavericks at Lakers Betting Tips

  • For a Lakers team with visions of battling for the top seed in the Western Conference, or at least the top seed behind OKC, this is the kind of game they need to win. At home against an inferior squad in transition, the Lakers will be a heavy favorite.
  • After losing two of their first three home games the Lakers are 4-0 SU and ATS at Crypto.com Arena and they are 10-3 against the NBA point spread in their last 13 contests. The Lakers have also gone OVER the total in all seven home games.
  • The Mavs had a home heavy schedule to open the season with 13 of their first 18 in Dallas. They are 1-4 in their true road games with the lone victory over the 2-win Wizards. Overall the Mavs are 5-14 SU and 8-11 ATS.

Mavericks at Lakers Head to Head and Key Stats

  • The Lakers won both games since the Doncic trade covering the spread in the most recent contest.
  • By NBA standards the recent series has been low scoring with the teams playing UNDER the closing total in eight of the last nine matchups.
  • LeBron James has played 46 career games against the Mavs averaging 27 points and 8.1 rebounds while shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
