LAFC at Portland Preview: Odds, Insights & Betting Tips

The early season Major League Soccer clash between Los Angeles FC and Portland features teams on opposite ends of the Western Conference standings. LAFC are the only team without a loss and lead the entire MLS with 16 points.

The clubs are only six matches into the campaign, but every point matters, especially now for Portland, which is winless in its last five matches scoring just six goals in that span. They are tied with Sporting KC at the bottom of the West standings.

LAFC doesn’t give up a lot of scoring chances or goals, making Portland’s job that much more difficult. In fact LA has been perfect this season with six clean sheets in MLS matches. The last time an opponent scored was last month in a CONCACAF Champions Cup match.

LAFC at Portland Preview

The first match of the MLS season between LAFC and the Portland Timbers takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Providence Park in Portland, OR. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET with the match televised on FOX.

Public Betting Odds Factors

  • LAFC has yet to concede a goal in six MLS matches as they look to continue their historic run. They will be penetrated at some point since no team in league history has gone an entire season without being scored upon, but LAFC is getting a lot of attention in MLS odds right now.
  • The defensive dominance isn’t just taking place in the MLS. LAFC beat Alajuelense on aggregate in the CONCACAF Champions Cup allowing a single goal in each of their two matches. They also beat Real Espana by allowing just one goal, winning 7-1 on aggregate in February.
  • Portland has scored nine goals this season averaging 1.5 per match putting them in the middle of the MLS pack offensively. They will need to be more creative to dent the stingy LA defense with leading goal scorer Kristoffer Velde playing a large role.
  • The Timbers need to snap back after a crushing defeat in its last match. They led Vancouver 2-1 entering second half stoppage time and surrendered a pair of goals, turning a victory into a 3-2 setback, extending their winless streak to five games with four of them losses.
  • Not only is LAFC the best team in MLS, they are the best on the continent right now after beating Cruz Azul 3-0 on Tuesday in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals.
  • Along with the best defense in MLS, LA has put the ball in the net tied for 2nd in total goals scored with 14. That number was aided in a 6-0 rout of Orlando City on Saturday.
