Iowa Corn 350 Predictions – NASCAR Betting Guide
For a while it looked as though race favorites on the NASCAR Odds stood the best chance of actually winning the race. That changed last week with Bubba Wallace capturing the checkered flag at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Wallace closed in the 30/1 odds range well behind favorites Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson. Hamlin and Larson are in their familiar spots near the top of the NASCAR odds for this week’s Iowa Corn 350. The race takes place at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, on Sunday, August 3 with the green flag dropping at 3:30 p.m. ET. The race will be televised on USA Network.
NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Preview
They didn’t win last week but Larson and Hamlin continued their excellent form on oval tracks with a second and third place showing respectively. And once again the duo is considered to be among the favorites this week. However, early NASCAR odds have Christopher Bell positioned at the top of the odds board. With three wins and 13 top 10 finishes Bell is fifth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. He’s coming off an eighth place finish at the Brickyard 400. It had been 100 races and nearly three years since Wallace last won a Cup Series race, so claiming the checkered flag at Indy had to be a relief. Oddsmakers don’t see this as the start of a trend, though, with Wallace again further down the odds board. This race was contested last year for the first time as a late addition to the schedule when plans to race in Montreal were not finalized. Ryan Blaney won the race edging out William Byron with Bell finishing fourth. Neither Hamlin nor Larson finished the race and both were well behind the winner.

NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Top Contenders
Ryan Blaney +572
Blaney had a convincing win on this track last year and he’s nearing a higher finish as he continues his surge on ovals. He finished outside the top 10 on road courses in Sonoma and Chicago in early July but he regained some of the magic in more recent races finishing eighth in Dover and seventh last week at Indy. His best success has come on similar oval tracks and with Blaney displaying good form there’s a better than good chance he comes out on top.
William Byron +877
There’s nothing that screams Byron is going to win this race. And that’s the beauty of wagering on NASCAR is that you just never know. Last week’s result was surprising with Wallace emerging to the winner’s circle so why can’t it happen again? There are some underlying metrics that point to Byron having success. Last week he led the field in stage points and would’ve finished higher had he not run out of fuel in overtime. He also finished second to Blaney in last year’s race, which is a plus.
Chase Briscoe +1865
There are other drivers with better stats, but Briscoe’s consistency and his price stand out this week. At some point his qualifying speed will translate to the actual race and when it does Briscoe will be in good shape. He started from the top two spots on the grid six times in his last 10 races but failed to win placing second twice. His lone win of the year came at Pocono when he started sixth. Briscoe can roll with the best in practice and now he has to do it in a race.
Austin Cindric +4627
Like Briscoe, backing Cindric is a bit of a stretch. He has only one top 10 in 12 races since winning at Talladega and he didn’t tear up the track in Iowa last year coming in 30th. But Cindric has been consistently competitive all season and just needs a little push to get ahead of the favorites. Though he finished 15th last week at the Brickyard, Cindric led the most laps (40) of any driver. And based on his impressive win earlier this season at Talladega we know he can win.
NASCAR Iowa Corn 350 Predictions
I like Blaney because of his comfort level on this track, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hamlin and Larson again battling for first. Patience is a virtue when it comes to the tricky turns and tight straightaways on this track. Hamlin is among the best in that area and he has a bone to pick after getting knocked out late in last year’s race. Backing the outright winner isn’t the only wagering option.
