Genesis Scottish Open Betting Preview 2025
The last stop ahead of the season’s final major takes the PGA Tour across the pond for this week’s Genesis Scottish Open. Played in conjunction with the DP World Tour, this event features the top players in the world, including the top five ranked players in the world. With three wins in a stretch of nine consecutive top 10s, OWGR No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines the field as the favorite on the opening PGA betting line. Former winners of this tournament Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are next in line on the odds board.
2025 Genesis Scottish Open Overview
The 2025 Genesis Scottish Open takes place from July 10 through July 13 at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. A traditional links course that measures just under 7,300 yards at par 70, the Renaissance Club is a good test for those competing in The Open, which takes place next week. No player has gone back-to-back in this tournament since it was first played in 1972. Next in line for a chance at history is Robert MacIntyre, who won for a fifth time in his professional career last year. MacIntyre finished one swing behind McIlroy in 2023 but turned the tables on Adam Scott in 2024 by coming back from down three shots on the closing back nine to win by one. With such a strong field we’ve seen some amazing finishes in this tournament. The last three winners all won by a single shot while the three before that prevailed in a playoff. Nine of the past 10 events were decided by one swing or a playoff. The tournament will air on CBS, Golf Channel and ESPN+

2025 Genesis Scottish Open Top Contenders
Matt Fitzpatrick
Fitz has always been thought of as a player with enormous talent who has yet to harness his abilities. An eight-time winner on the DP World Tour, he hasn’t claimed victory since the 2023 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, showing he can navigate links courses. Fitz has gained confidence lately with two top 10s while going 6 for 6, including most recently at T8 at the Rocket Classic. He lost this tournament in 2021 in a three-man playoff and captured a T6 the following year..
Tommy Fleetwood
Looking to overcome the heartbreak of his last start Fleetwood will use past success at the Renaissance Club as motivation. Entering the final round of last month’s Travelers Championship with a 3-shot lead, Fleetwood shot 72 and was overtaken on the leaderboard finishing as co-runner-up. That minor hiccup aside, it’s been a strong year with three top 10s in his last five starts. In a three-year run at this tournament starting in 2020, Fleetwood was P2-T4-T6.
Robert MacIntyre
History isn’t on MacIntyre’s side since there’s never been a repeat champion, but he’s having a nice run of form with four top 20s in his last five starts, including a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. And it’s hard to complain about his recent showings at the Renaissance Club. In 2023 he closed with a 64 finishing one shot back of Rory McIlroy. Last year MacIntyre birdied the 72nd hole to finish one swing clear of Adam Scott. It’s a small sample size, but over the past two years his scoring average on this track is 66.
Xander Schauffele
We haven’t seen a lot of Schauffele this season with this being just his 12th start. And as a result we haven’t gotten the usual top finishes from him. He’s placed among the top 10 just once, but he did have a fun of five top 25s in six starts before the Travelers while starting to display the consistency that makes him one of the best. Name recognition has affected his betting odds, but look for Schauffele to make a move ahead of the season’s final major.
Scottie Scheffler
You can’t have a section like this without including the best player. And there’s no arguing that Scheffler is the best. In the span of just over a year he has six victories and an Olympic gold medal along with nine additional top 10s in 21 starts. And he might be playing his best golf lately with a run of nine consecutive top 10 finishes that includes a trio of wins. He didn’t play this tournament last year, but in 2023 Scheffler finished in a three-way tie for third.

It’s hard to bet against Scheffler, but he doesn’t win every tournament; it just seems like it. There are some sleepers with good value, however in such a strong field it doesn’t pay to go too far down the odds board. Fitzpatrick has recently flashed the form that has made so many pundits high on him and he rewards them this week.
