Genesis Invitational 2026 Preview: Odds, Schedule & Course
It’s a return to familiar ground for The Genesis Invitational this week with the field gathering at the iconic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. The tournament was relocated several miles south to Torrey Pines last year due to the raging wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The second Signature event of the season will feature a limited field with no cut. Once again Scottie Scheffler tops the outright odds board looking for his first win of the season.
What Is The Genesis Invitational?
One of the oldest tournaments on the PGA Tour, The Genesis was first played 100 years ago in 1926. Played annually in February it is the final event on the Tour’s “West Coast Swing.” It’s also one of five tournaments currently with ‘invitational’ stats. The tournament has been held at Riviera CC on a near continuous basis since 1973.
Where Is The Genesis Invitational Played?
Since 1973 all but three tournaments have been held at Riviera CC. Last year was moved south due to fire hazards and the previous two times (1983, 1998) were relocated as Riviera prepared to host other major golf events. Ranked one of the best courses in the world, Riviera has a compact layout that will test every aspect of a player’s game.
The Genesis Invitational Schedule
The tournament will be contested over 4 days from Feb. 19-22, 2026. The format includes 72-holes of stroke play with no cut line due to the limited field. As a Signature event there is a larger prize pool and more FedExCup points on the line.

Early round coverage is on Golf Channel with weekend play split between Golf Channel and CBS. Live streams of featured groups and holes are available on ESPN+.

Signature events have become a big deal on the PGA Tour and the limited field of golfers make a longshot winner less likely. Collin Morikawa won for the first time in more than 2 years, besting the field at Pebble Beach after a T54 and MC in his first 2 starts. He climbed the odds board this week.

Who Won the 2025 Genesis Invitational?
In a way there are 2 defending champions of The Genesis. Last year at Torrey Pines Ludvig Aberg had a spirited final round rallying from 3 shots down on the back nine with birdies on 13, 14 and 15. He closed with a birdie putt on the 18th for a 6-under 66 beating Maverick McNealy by one swing.
The reigning course champion is Hideki Matsuyama who closed the 2024 event at Riviera with a 9-under 62, the lowest final round by a winner at Riviera, to erase a 6-shot deficit and win by 2 shots over Will Zalatoris and Scheffler.
