One team will end a losing streak in the Week 11 Monday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders. The Cowboys lost two in a row before last week’s bye while the Raiders look to end a 3-game slide. The interconference clash is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on November 17 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and can be seen on ABC and ESPN.
Cowboys at Raiders Preview
We said a losing streak will end on Monday night, that’s barring a tie of course. No team has tied twice in one season since overtime was introduced in 1974 so there’s a good chance we have a winner. The Cowboys played the highest scoring tie game in the OT era in Week 4’s 40-all matchup with Green Bay.
That game sums up the Cowboys this season. They have a good offense and a lousy defense.
The Boys have allowed 30 or more points five times in nine games and they’re next to last in the NFL in total defense and scoring defense. It’s helped Dallas cash the OVER on the NFL pointspread in five of their last six games.
- Dak Prescott has thrown for 2,319 yards and 17 TDs leading the Cowboys to the 3rd-best passing attack in the NFL.
- Dallas has converted 43 percent of its 3rd-down plays to rank 6th.
- The defense has a number of holes caused by injury or trade (Micah Parsons). The group has allowed more than 400 yards in five games, including 506 yards to the Giants in Week 2.
- The Cowboys are 6-3 SU and ATS in their last nine games immediately following a bye.
The season went downhill fast for the Raiders after winning their season-opener against New England. Yep, the same Pats’ team that is currently tied with the best record in the NFL. Vegas is 1-7 since and 2-5-1 against the NFL betting line since then with the lone victory against Tennessee.
It’s hard to win when you can’t score and the Raiders are next to last in that area averaging 15.4 points a game. They’ve been held to fewer than 10 points four times, including twice in their last three games. In last week’s 10-7 loss to Denver the offense managed just 188 total yards with Geno Smith getting sacked six times raising his season total to 27.
- The Raiders are 30th in total offense and average just 4.8 yards per play.
- Over his last four games Geno Smith is averaging 167 passing yards and for the season he’s thrown more interceptions (12) than TD passes (11).
- A bad offense could be without as many as three starting linemen with Jackson Power-Johnson joining Kolton Miller on IR. Dylan Parham is listed as questionable.
- Las Vegas has lost 17 of its last 18 games when getting points.
Cowboys at Raiders Predictions
With Smith banged up there’s a chance we see Kenny Pickett take some snaps. Either way I don’t trust the Raiders offense. But they have been effective against weaker defenses, scoring 29 against Jacksonville and 24 against Chicago and Washington. They can do enough to push the total up, which is where I’m leaning since it’s close on the spread.
