College Football Week 4 Best Bets | Odds, Picks & Predictions
Week 4 Offers fans and gamblers some strong blue blood power brand matchups that will be big draws at the stadiums, TV sets, and the betting window.
On Saturday, the 3:30 p.m. ET window features a strong trio of games. The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting the Auburn Tigers, with ABC televising the action. Oklahoma scored an improbable comeback win at Auburn last year. This year, both teams are showing significant improvement, setting up a potential thriller in Norman, OK.
When it comes to historic brands and a large following, the matchup of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and visiting Michigan Wolverines can’t be topped. Nebraska is seeking a signature win for third-year head coach Matt Rhule, and Michigan’s scalp would certainly qualify. CBS will bring us the action.
The winless and desperate Notre Dame Fighting Irish will host their old rival Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue is improved but likely outmanned for this one, but Notre Dame is not proving trustworthy with the public’s cash against the college football odds. NBC will televise the matchup under Touchdown Jesus.
The Saturday prime time window is strong with the South Carolina Gamecocks at the Missouri Tigers (6 p.m. ET, ESPN), the struggling Florida Gators at the resurgent Miami-FL Hurricanes (6:30 p.m. ET, ABC), and the undefeated Big Ten showdown of the Illinois Fighting Illini at the Indiana Hoosiers (6:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
Notable CFB Week 4 Odds
- Clemson (-17.5) is an intriguing price for their home matchup against the Syracuse Orange. Despite plenty of preseason hype, head coach Dabo Swinney and his Tigers have lost two games, and fans are in an uproar. Swinney defied Clemson's decision to fire him this week, stating that he would win somewhere else if they didn’t want to continue winning with him.
- Wisconsin (-10) will host the improved and undefeated Maryland Terrapins. Wisconsin is coming off a disappointing blowout loss at Alabama and appears to be a program that has fallen far behind. Yet they are favored by 10 in college football odds?
- Oregon (-35.5) will host the Oregon State Beavers in what was previously known as the Civil War. Despite the large price, Oregon will draw betting interest in a game that is an utter mismatch. The Ducks may be the best team in college football. Oregon State may need to consider dropping its football program.
CFB Week 4 Predictions
Week 4 is an opportunity for some potential contenders to prove that they are not pretenders.
- Auburn Tigers +6.5 vs. Oklahoma Sooners – Last year, a weak Oklahoma team rallied from an 11-point deficit to beat Auburn 27-21. Both teams are vastly improved over last year. Auburn carries the revenge angle and the confidence of picking up an impressive road win in Week 1 over Baylor. The casual sector will flock to the host Sooners, leaving more value with War Eagle. Auburn is a dangerous college football betting underdog in this spot.
- Nebraska Cornhuskers +2.5 vs. Michigan Wolverines – Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is suspended for this game, with Biff Poggi filling in. Following a close call win over Cincinnati in the opener, Nebraska clobbered two patsies in preparation for this game that has been circled on the calendar long ago. Nebraska has the advantage with QB Dylan Raiola and one of the best crowds in college football. Michigan is still good, but no longer great.
- South Carolina Gamecocks +10.5 vs. Missouri Tigers – South Carolina is a dangerous dog in this spot after being routed at home by Vanderbilt last week. The Gamecocks will be focused and motivated to atone for that terrible performance. Missouri is undefeated, but this is their SEC opener as they step way up in class.
- Miami-FL Hurricanes -7.5 vs. Florida Gators – Florida head coach Billy Napier was about to face the firing squad last year before a miraculous recovery late in the year spared him. However, all of the problems that Florida had last year have been carried over. The Gators enter Miami with a two-game losing streak and face a Hurricanes team that appears to be College Football Playoff material.
