Bengals at Broncos Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips
Life without Joe Burrow continues for the Cincinnati Bengals when they pay a visit to the Denver Broncos for a Monday Night Football matchup to close Week 4 of the NFL season. In their first game since their star quarterback was injured the Bengals were thumped 48-10 in Minnesota yet they still have a share of the AFC North lead. The game kicks off from Empower Field in Denver at 8:15 p.m. ET on September 29 and will air on ABC.
Bengals at Broncos Ravens Preview
Even with backup Jake Browning taking over the reins it’s hard to imagine the Bengals playing worse than they did last week. In his first start since the end of the 2023 season Browning accounted for two of Cincy’s five turnovers with interceptions, one of which was returned for a TD. The Bengals also fumbled the ball five times, losing three of them, with one of those turnovers leading directly to Minnesota points.
The Bengals managed just 171 total yards going 3 of 11 on third-downs and suffered the worst loss in franchise history. The inability to run the football has hindered the rest of the offense. The Bengals had just 53 yards on 21 rush attempts against the Vikings and they are last in the NFL averaging 49 rushing yards per game.
- The Bengals have not rushed for more than 53 yards in any game despite twice having more than 20 attempts.
- Browning is 1-3 in four career road starts with 4 TD passes and 5 interceptions.
- The Bengals are 2-11 SU in their last 13 games as a road underdog of 7 or more points. They are 9-4 ATS in those game
- Cincy has failed to cover the NFL betting line in its last three road games.
Denver entered the season with lofty expectations after a strong finish and playoff appearance a season ago. They’ve been unable to close out their last two games, eventually losing both on a late field goal. And losing three of their first four to start this campaign isn’t ideal in a tough division and conference. On the bright side they are just a few plays away from being 3-0.
There are no moral victories in the NFL and winning is what matters. Bo Nix has to be more consistent to get the offense in gear. He’s thrown for 535 yards and has been intercepted three times. The Broncos have the 25th ranked pass offense and are 20th in total offense.
- The Broncos have won their last six home games going 5-1 ATS.
- Converting just 32.4 percent of their third downs has the Broncos ranked 27th.
- Denver is tied for 2nd in the NFL in red zone defense at 27.2 percent.
- With 10 penalties last week the Broncos have been flagged 18 times for 173 yards the last two games.
Bengals at Broncos Predictions
We talked a lot about how explosive the teams are on offense and how they’ve been that way for several years. We haven’t mentioned defense much, and both teams were markedly improved in that area in Week 2. And the expectation is that both clubs will continue to get better. With that being said and with the total at the time of this writing at 53, I’m seriously considering backing the UNDER.
