Army vs Navy Betting Preview: Odds, Picks & Tips

The final regular season game of the 2025 regular season stands alone as the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen hook up for the 126th time. With both teams beating Air Force earlier in the year the coveted Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy is also on the line. The game kicks at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 13 from MT Bank Stadium in Baltimore and can be seen on CBS.

Army vs. Navy Preview

You can throw the stats and records away when the Cadets and Middies get together. One of the longest and most traditional rivalries, the series is as intense as any in the game. Army is counting on the intensity working in their favor since their record and stats don’t compare. Army rebounded from a season opening loss to FCS Tarleton State to go 6-5.

The Cadets are adept at running and possessing the football, things they must have success at in order to win this game. Army runs the ball more than 85 percent of the time and ranks fifth nationally averaging 256.9 yards per game. They also lead the country in average time of possession at more than 35 minutes.

  • Playing catch up is something that Army will try to avoid since they don’t throw the football. Combined their QBs have 56 completions for 861 yards and 5 TDs.
  • Cale Hellums has taken a majority of snaps at QB throwing for 504 yards. He’s most dangerous as a runner with a team leading 1,078 yards and 15 TDs on 264 attempts.
  • Army has won 5 of its last 7 games going 4-3 against the college football odds in that span.
  • The Cadets boast the 2nd best total defense and scoring defense in the AAC.

Statistically Navy has the advantage in this game. The Middies are 9-2 with their losses to AAC runner-up North Texas and Notre Dame, teams with a combined 21-4 record. Nobody in the country is better at running the football than Navy, which averages 298.4 yards per game and 6.1 yards per carry.

You don’t often see two QBs with over 1,000 yards rushing go against each other, but that’s what we have in this game. Blake Horvath is Navy’s dual threat leading five players with more than 400 yards on the ground with 1,040. He also has nearly 1,400 yards passing and has accounted for 23 TDs.

  • Navy doesn’t throw the ball much either with their QBs combining to throw 153 passes for 1,500 yards, but they have been more efficient than Army.
  • The Middies have two straight payouts on the college football betting odds after going just 2-7 ATS in their first 9 games.
  • Navy had allowed more than 30 points in six straight games before beating Memphis 28-17 in its last game. The OVER was 5-1 in that 6-game stretch.
  • Navy is 12th nationally converting 49.6 percent of its 3rd down plays.

Army vs. Navy Predictions

This game has traditionally been a low scoring affair with 16 of the past 19 matchups going UNDER the closing total. The willingness of both teams to run the football and chew time off the clock while also being familiar with the game plans leads me to believe this will be another contest with points at a premium.

Army vs. Navy Betting Tips

  • Navy opened at -6.5 flipping the script from last year’s game when the Middies were 6.5-point dogs. Navy won that contest outright 31-13.
  • Army is 3-2 ATS this season when getting points on the closing line.
  • Navy is listed at -240 on the moneyline and Army is listed at +206.
  • The total surfaced at 38, the sixth straight year the number is lower than 40.
  • This would be the first time this season both teams played with a total below 40.
  • Navy is 8-3 against the OVER this season and 3-1 when the total is higher than 60.

Army vs. Navy Head to Head and Key Stats

  • This game was first played in 1890 with Navy holding the advantage 63-55 with 7 ties.
  • Between 2006 and 2021 the teams played UNDER the total in all 16 games.
  • Navy matched the most points scored in the last 11 meetings in their 31-13 last year. The Middies also hit that number in a 31-7 win in 2019.
  • The teams have split the last 12 games with Army going 7-5 ATS in that span.
  • Behind Blake Horvath the Middies ended a 2-game skid in last year’s game. Horvath threw 2 TD passes and rushed for 204 yards and 2 additional scores in the 31-13 triumph.
