The final tune up before the season’s second major takes place this week with the PGA Tour headed to North Carolina for the Truist Championship. Back in action for the first time since his second straight Masters triumph, Rory McIlroy opened as the outright betting favorite on the early PGA golf odds. Due to its status as a Signature Event, the Truist attracts a competitive field.
What Is the Truist Championship?
The sixth of eight Signature Events on the season schedule, the Truist returns to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte after it was displaced last year while the course was prepared for the PGA Championship. The tournament was first played in 2003 with all but three events taking place at Quail Hollow. This is the last chance for golfers to work out the kinks with the Tour headed to Pennsylvania next week for the PGA Championship.
Where Is the Truist Championship Played?
All but three of the 22 tournaments have been held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte. Ahead of hosting a major in 2025 the Club underwent a facelift that included a complete redo of all tees and greens while all the bunkers on the property were overhauled. The course measures 7,583 yards at par-71 and includes one of the toughest three-hole closing stretches on Tour known as the “Green Mile.”
The Truist Championship Schedule
A limited field of 72 players will peg it up this week at the Truist Championship. The four-day tournament starts on Thursday, May 7 and concludes on Sunday, May 10. There is no cut line so the entire field will play for the $3.6 million first place prize from a total purse of $20 million.
How to Watch the Truist Championship
The 2026 Truist Championship can be seen through a combination of traditional television and streaming services. Golf Channel, CBS and ESPN+ will provide extensive coverage of this Signature Event. Early round coverage on Golf Channel runs from 2-6 p.m. ET and on the weekend from 1-3 p.m. ET. Afternoon weekend broadcasts will air on CBS from 3-6 p.m. ET. Paramount+ streams CBS’s weekend coverage and ESPN+ streams featured groups and holes for the entire tournament.
The Truist Championship Betting Odds & Markets
The last time the Truist Championship was contested at Quail Hollow in 2024, Rory McIlroy won his record fourth title with a 5-shot win, the largest since 2015 when McIlroy set a scoring record of -21 to win by seven swings. And given his recent win at the Masters, it isn’t difficult to see why McIlroy is the PGA Tour betting odds outright favorite.
Coming off his second win in four starts and currently No. 4 in the OWGR, Cameron Young is on a heater. Prior to his win at THE PLAYERS, Young recorded two top 10s. He also grabbed a podium at the Masters in between his victories. With a number of quality players on the second tier of favorites there is value on the board.
