2025 WNBA All-Star Game – Betting Guide & Odds
Since the Women’s National Basketball Association is partly owned and subsidized by the NBA it makes sense that festivities surrounding the All-Star Game have a familiar look. It works with the men and has been a hit in the women’s game. With increased viewership and betting on the game at an all-time high the WNBA is looking to put on a show with its finest players. However, there is some concern that the golden goose won’t partake. In what’s been an injury-plagued season for last year’s Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, she missed Indiana’s final game before the break after sustaining a groin injury the day before. All indications at this time are that she will play in front of her hometown fans.
WNBA All-Star Game Preview
The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET with ABC providing television coverage.
With conference affiliation having no bearing on the WNBA standings there is no reason to play the game between players from the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. The top two vote-getters were named team captains and the next eight highest ranked players were named starters, regardless of conference. Captains Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx then selected their team in a schoolyard draft. This ASG format has been in effect since 2018 with the exception of Olympic years.
With a record number of votes Clark earned the first pick taking Fever teammate Aliyah Boston. New York’s Sabrina Ionescu, Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson and Phoenix’s Satou Sabally rounded out the starting five for Team Clark. With her first pick Collier chose Liberty forward Breanna Stewart and completed the starting lineup for Team Collier with Alisha Gray of Atlanta, Seattle’s Nneka Ogwumike and rookie Paige Bueckers of Dallas. Six reserves were selected by each captain to fill out the All-Star Game rosters.
Several rules will be in place just for this game to help increase the pace and potentially scoring, which will impact the over/under on the WNBA betting line. Two circles will be placed at each end of the court behind the three-point line and are designated 4-point shot areas. Any basket made by a player who is in contact with the area when attempting the shot will be scored as four points. The shot clock will be reduced to 20 seconds from the standard 24 and in-game substitutions will be allowed, similar to a line change in hockey, though certain rules apply. Also, no free throws will be attempted except for the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. In situations that would call for free throws, the maximum number of points will be credited. That will increase the free throw percentage for both sides.
WNBA All-Star Game Prediction
Considering the top 10 scorers during the first half of the WNBA season are all-stars, and with special rules promoting offense, there’s a good chance we see plenty of points scored in this game. Collier leads the league and is the front-runner for WNBA MVP averaging 23.2 points. Two-time MVP Breanna Stewart averages more than 20 points for her career and is currently the fourth-leading scorer with 19.7 points. Alisha Gray is the reigning three-point contest winner and Bueckers is on her way to rookie of the year averaging 18.4 points. Not to be outdone Team Clark has some gunslingers led by its captain. Her sophomore season hasn’t been as impactful on the court with injuries slowing her down, but Clark is the face of the league and a scoring threat, particularly from distance, when healthy. Widely considered the best player in the WNBA, Wilson is a three-time MVP and two-time champion. She averages 22.3 points, second in the league.
WNBA All-Star Game Betting Tips
Early WNBA All-Star Game betting odds have Team Collier as a 2.5-point favorite with the over/under at 239.5. With so much uncertainty about the game given the format and special rules in place, along with injuries sidelining players, we can expect some movement before the game actually tips. The two captains are also the favorites to win the game MVP award. Collier sits atop the odds board with Clark close behind. Ionescu and Wilson are significantly behind as the third favorites. This brings us back to Clark’s health ahead of the game. She’s been plagued by injuries missing nearly as many games (10) as she’s played (13).
WNBA All-Star Game Key Stats
It might be a good idea to fade Team Clark in the ASG and Caitlin for any individual awards if she plays. Not only are the injuries troublesome but they’ve also affected her play. Clark was 6 of 26 on 3-point attempts in her last four games and is making less than 28 percent of her shots from distance this season. Collier, meanwhile, has been a dominant player for the best team in the WNBA shooting 51.7 percent from the floor and 94.6 percent from the stripe.
