College World Series 2025: LSU, Arkansas Favored

Since 1950, Omaha, Nebraska, has hosted the College World Series — the crowning event of NCAA Baseball — which was born in 1947. Omaha and the CWS have become, like the Masters golf tournament, a tradition unlike any other. The NCAA and Omaha have a contract to extend the relationship through 2035.. As is the case in College football, the SEC has been the dominant conference in the College World Series. The SEC has five consecutive CWS titles and seven of the most recent eight. The Tennessee Volunteers won the 2024 College World Series, following LSU's victory in 2023. This year, the LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks have opened as the favorites to win the 2025 CWS.

The format of the 2025 College World Series is double-elimination with a best-of-three championship series scheduled for June 21, 22, and 23.

LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers have a record of 48-15, including a 6-2 postseason mark. LSU swept the West Virginia Mountaineers 2-0 in the Super Regional.

The No. 6 national seed Tigers return to Omaha for the first time since winning the national championship in 2023. That title snapped a drought dating back to 2009, with a runner-up finish in 2017 mixed in.
The Tigers earned back-to-back wins over West Virginia — 16-9 and 12-5 — at the Baton Rouge Super Regional to punch their ticket back to the College World Series.

Arkansas Razorbacks

The Arkansas Razorbacks are 48-13, including 5-1 in the postseason. Arkansas swept Tennessee 2-0 in the Super Regional.

The national No. 3 seed Razorbacks had the task of facing defending national champion Tennessee, which entered the Fayetteville Super Regional as the 14-seed. Arkansas swept the Vols with 4-3 and 11-4 victories.
The Razorbacks return to the College World Series for the first time since 2022 and have qualified 11 times previously, without winning a national title.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are 51-11, including 9-0 in the postseason. Coastal Carolina beat Auburn 2-0 in the Super Regional.

The Chanticleers entered the Auburn Super Regional as the No. 13 seed and won back-to-back games over the four-seed Tigers, 7-6 and 4-1, to make their first College World Series appearance since winning it all in 2016 — the last and only other time they’ve made it to Omaha.
Coastal Carolina enters the CWS riding a 23-game win streak, with its last loss coming on April 22 in a 4-2 defeat to the College of Charleston. They are the Sun Belt regular season and tournament champions.

Louisville Cardinals

The Louisville Cardinals are 40-22, including 5-1 in the postseason. The Cardinals defeated Miami 2-1 in the Super Regional.

The Cardinals hosted their Super Regional against Miami, winning the first game 8-1 before dropping the second 9-6. It set up a decisive third game on Sunday, which Louisville won 3-2, eliminating the Hurricanes and advancing to its first College World Series since 2019.
The Cardinals have made it to Omaha five previous times, but have never progressed to the championship game.

Arizona Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats are 43-18, including 8-1 in the postseason. Coastal Carolina beat North Carolina 2-1 in the Super Regional.

After losing the first game of the Chapel Hill Super Regional 18-2 to No. 5 national seed North Carolina, the Wildcats responded with back-to-back wins — 10-8 and 4-3 — to advance to Omaha for the first time since 2021. Arizona will make the trip to the College World Series as Big 12 Tournament champions.
