2025 3M Open Predictions, Odds & Betting Preview

GOLF

With the major season behind us and the 3M Open the penultimate tournament on the regular season PGA schedule, we’ll have a more subdued atmosphere when the field assembles in the Minneapolis suburb of Blaine this week. A few players are making the trip from Ireland after a thrilling weekend at the U.S. Open including defending champion Jhonattan Vegas, who ended a seven-year drought with his one-shot win over Max Greyserman last year. With a watered down field Sam Burns opened as the favorite with hefty PGA Tour odds. This is a good tournament to scroll further down the odds board for potential value picks.

2025 3M Open Overview

The 2025 3M Open will be contested from July 24 through July 27 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn. Expanded to over 7,400 yards a few years ago, the course is long but straightforward yielding low scores over its short existence as a Tour stop. In six previous editions the winning score was 15-under or better. The past four winners of this tournament are all scheduled to peg it up with 2022 champ Tony Finau boasting the shortest odds of the quartet. Lee Hodges set a tournament scoring record with a 24-under 260 to win the 2023 title by seven swings. With six top 10 finishes this season Maverick McNealy is the highest ranked golfer in the field and has the second shortest odds. Following a glorious stay across the pond, Chris Gotterup opened as the third favorite. Gotterup won the Genesis Scottish Open and followed that with a share of third at The Open for his first top 5s of the year. The 2025 3M Open will be televised on CBS, Golf Channel and ESPN+.

2025 3M Open Top Contenders

Sam Burns +1659

Backing the favorite isn’t always a good idea, but in this event it makes sense. Prior to stops in the UK Burns was on a roll and a return to the states is something to look forward to. Also, his price is tantalizing for the outright favorite. Burns finished among the top 20 in seven of his last eight starts, including a playoff loss at the RBC Canadian Open, before heading overseas. He placed outside the top 40 at the Scottish Open and The Open Championship, but some players just have a hard time on links-style courses.

Tony Finau +4873

Given his history in this tournament and in general overall, it’s hard not to like Finau. Without a top 10 in his last 12 starts his odds climbed. Finau has competed in all six 3M tournaments with a win and a T3 among four top 15s. He’s scored under pay in his last 15 rounds at TPC Twin Cities with a 67.71 scoring average. He’d also like to enter the FedExCup Playoffs with some confidence.

Chris Gotterup +2350

You could sense a buildup to the success Gotterup had in the UK. He was close to breaking into the top 10 in seven of his previous nine starts racking up four top 20s. That consistent play manifested into a stirring run across the pond. Gotterup started with a 2-shot win over Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge in the Scottish Open then finished alone in third at Royal Portrush overcoming an opening 72.

Maverick McNealy +2106

Putting together a solid season despite not winning a tournament, McNealy has been consistent as it gets, leaving him as the highest ranked player in the field at No. 11 on the OWGR. McNealy has strung together four top 25s in his last five starts with a best of T5 at the Memorial to start the run. He’s also 3 for 3 in this event earning a T3 last year with the help of a tournament-low tying round of 63 in the second.

Jhonattan Vegas +7750

Sometimes guys play better on a certain course. That could be the case for Vegas, who looks to snap out of a recent funk by returning to a venue that’s treated him well. Vegas hasn’t finished among the top 30 since grabbing a share of fifth at the PGA Championship in May. However his play at TPC Twin Cities gives him value. He tied for second in 2021, two shots off the lead. When he returned last year Vegas won by one shot after securing a birdie on the final hole.

Without a clear-cut favorite fans can get more creative with their golf betting. Finau has played in every 3M tournament with success included. He finished no worse than T12 in his last three starts that included a win. He also has a podium finish on his resume, and with his price he provides plenty of value.
